Thought maybe purchasing from a trusted name like Winters I would be getting a good quality product. Well if you're looking to ball park your figures let's say get as close as 20 degrees give or take off your target temperature, this is the gauge for you, and it even comes with the "I feel good about spending more money, knowing there are cheaper gauges out there"...In the picture above there are three gauges 2 of which are within 2 degree's of each both of those are tested against my calibrated thermometer in both ice water, and boiler water. The winter's gauge on the bottom is currently showing 80 degrees while the correct reading is shown at 66.7 degrees and the top gauge shows 68... as the temps rise the Winter's gauge becomes even more inaccurate.

The temperature gauge on Hydronic furnace failed. I found this gauge and install it into my system. I thought it was going to be difficult to install, boy was I wrong. The old one pulled out easily and I was done in under a minute.

The product description reviews all the materials this is made from except lead. There is a sticker on the back reading that it contains lead thereby making it inappropriate for food/brewing/distilling use. Can't give it an appropriate star rating based on performance since I did not use it. I gave it 3 since it appears to be decently made and the description is misleading.

I am using this gauge to measure return water temperature on my boiler. I need at least 130 f to prevent flue gas condensation. Because the piping from the mixing valve is black iron. all I had to do was add a tea and screw in the well. I like that I can change the gauge without draining the system.

I purchased this gauge to attach to a lab sink, to help adjust the water temperature. The quality is excellent and it comes with a well. That allows you to turn in any direction you want, or even remove it completely, without worrying about leaks. It performs one function, measuring temperature, and it does it exceedingly well.

Nothing fancy and it works well in my brew kettle for homebrewing. Make sure to calibrate the thermometer right away, mine was off by more than 10 degrees when it arrived.

I'll be honest. I was looking for the least expensive Thermometer I could find that still had some quality. Boy did I find it. This thing is perfect. works like a charm and is well made. Worth every penny.UPDATE: January 1st 2015 This thing has been hooked to my solar hot water heater in the AZ sun for two summers and it's third winter. It still works perfect.
