This Wine Tasting Journal has been a great way for my wife and I to taste and document the wines we are trying. The journal is of good quality construction and the inner pages are well laid out, though they do bleed through with heavier ink pens (like gel pens) but work well with ballpoint pens or pencils. Very happy with this journal.

This Tasting Journal is truly beautiful. The cover is wonderfully designed with a little nod to the Jazz Age. The binding is firm, and the gold embossing adds the additional elegance. The format inside is practical and well laid out with plenty of room for months of tasting, if you taste a lot of wine.Once you filled this book out, it will look very nice on your book shelf or in your wine cellar. For $15 you can't go wrong.

Okay, I admit, I am a burgeoning wine snob, although some may say that I am just a snob. 😉 I love learning about wine and more importantly, tasting various varietals from regions around the world. If you enjoy wine, and especially if you participate in wine tasting events, either privately or at participating vineyards, this journal is an outstanding reference and evaluation guide. If you have ever attended a formal wine tasting, you know that they can be rapid fire events, often overloading you with information at a pace that makes it almost impossible to take notes.Having attended numerous fact-filled and fun wine tastings over the years, I created a 3-inch x 5-inch index card with tables of wine characteristics to help me keep up with the rapid pace of the presentation. It was very gratifying to find that this journal-style guide takes a very similar approach to my index cards. For each wine, you are provided with a synopsis of characteristics that you can apply to the wine you are sampling, simply by checking or marking a circle next to the corresponding characteristic. The result is that you can focus on evaluating a wine and spend less time having to write down your thoughts or opinions about the more repetitive items. Still, you have places for entering your personal observations and your overall evaluation of the wine. While I love this wine tasting journal, I would like to see a change to the design. (Yes, I know, you could have guessed as much if you are familiar with my reviews.) I would like to see the Wine Aroma Categories page repeated with each Wine (Evaluation) page as it is on pages five and six. That would eliminate the need to page back and forth during an evaluation and to permit using the same, circle or rectangular selection for the appropriate feature.Regardless, if you attend wine tasting events, I think you will love having this wine tasting journal at your side. It will save you time and allow you to concentrate on what is most important: tasting and evaluating the wine! 😊 Cheers.

This is a terrific gift for the oenophile, as it is more portable than many larger-format wine tasting journals. The wine pages are very helpful and concise, though I would like to see an area for nose as well as aroma (yes, they are different), and the journal does really only work for those with small handwriting as the spaces for each entry are quite compact. Looks great, too.
