It's important to choose the right diameter when it comes to window screen replacements. The DYI stores have screen cable in bulk, BUT it's never the right diameter. Amazon made it easy and fast.

Most people won't bother trying to repair a window screen. My neighbor actually pad $400 to replace his entire window because there was a hole in his screen. I tried to get him to do his own repair but nope, he was not interested. Glad my Dad taught me back in the 1960's.In those days we had wood screen frame and believe it or not I actually found a place that still sells them so I bought enough for my four screenless windows. My apartment came with no screens at all. When I complained to my landlady about it she just stapled screen material right over the whole window leaving no access to the outside of the windows for cleaning. Sheesh! So being the do-it-your-self kind of person I ordered this and some screen material and bought the wood frames and made four screens from scratch. You will need a spline wheel (roller) to make this work perfectly though my dad sometimes used a flat blade screwdriver though I don't recommend that due to the ease of damaging the screen and spline. The wheels are cheap enough $5-$10 on Amazon and the screen material can also be had on Amazon at a wider variety of prices. That's all you need to fix your screen. You may have to look around to find the trim that you need of you are making a screen from scratch. So this worked as well as any spline I have used which is quite a few. But this is a lower price than I paid last time at a hardware store 10 years ago (per foot). I think I paid $15 for 100 feet back then.I highly recommend this for fixing your screen or making a new one from scratch.

You need quite a bit of length to get a few windows done but the kits at the home improvement store are always in a way that you end up tossing a lot at the end. This is all one nice length so you can cut off just what you need and get quite a few windows re-splined. It's nice and dense and stays much better in my frame than the old foam kind they had in before. The ridges definitely help it hold in better. It was just the right thickness I needed for my windows and allowed for some much needed update. I highly recommend.
