This process allows us to optimize the weight to stiffness ratio. Other manufacturers often reduce weight by removing material in ways that are convenient for the machining process or aesthetic design while ignoring stiffness performance resulting in rigidity below our quality standards. Not compatible with most Manfrotto or Gitzo clamps

I don't know about this one folks. One the one hand I like that I can easily attach the lens to a tripod. It seems strong and sturdy. I haven't felt like its going to come off or anything like that. My main gripes with this are that you can't easily take it off of your lens without a tool, and due to the height sometimes my hands get pinched between the foot and the lens. If it was about half and inch taller it might be better, and adding a knob that would allow quicker/easier removal would bump rating up for me.

The plate is attached to the camera by a single screw, and the attachment slot is not grooved and fits loosely over the tripod foot base on the lens.If you use a Spider belt or cotton carrier with this, or attach your carrying strap to the lens foot, it looks like this could easily come loose and drop the camera.I have returned it and will wait for a better alternative.
