In a large set, almost all Williams wrenches had minor to mostly major flaws in its chrome plating inside the box end of each wrench. This defect is catastrophic, and far more common than not. DO NOT BUY.

In a time when cheaper substitutes are readily available everywhere, I am proud to have purchased, and I'm honored to now own, a set of quality American-made wrenches that will serve me for many years and can be passed down to family (but not any time soon).

Bought these as a Christmas gift for my brother who's name is William. Extremely impressed by the quality, dare I say these are on par with tool Truck stuff like Mac, Snap-on, and such... you wont find a higher quality wrench set.... nice long handles, excellent full polished chrome finish, I might buy another set for myself now and I've already got several sets of end wrenches from Craftsman, Husky and icon and some tool truck and others mixed in also...

They feel good and look good but I would not recommend. The open end spreads open and you’ll strip heads off bolts.

I got these wrenches while looking for a good set of combos without spending the cash for Snap-on's Flank Drive Plus. I also purchased a set of WrightGrip 2.0 and SK long pattern wrenches to do a comparison. As far as the Super Combos go, I liked the thick beam, which made for a comfortable grip when turning a tight fastener, and the loop ends fit bolt heads tightly and did not allow for much play. I also liked the longer length of the Super Combos, which I would compare to the length of the Flank Drive Plus. The recessed open ends on the Super Combos did not perform any better than the flat open ends on the SK wrenches. However what worried me most was that the chrome on the Super Combos was flaky around the lettering to the point that the burrs would pull threads out of a shop rag if you were trying to clean the wrenches. For this reason, I ended up returning the Super Combos and kept the WrightGrip 2.0 set. The WrightGrip had beautiful fit and finish, thick, rounded beams, and the open end gripped well enough to rip the head off of a 13-mm Grade-8 bolt. The only thing I liked better about the SuperCombos was their longer length, but the difference was generally under an inch, and the WrightGrips can (on rare occasion) get into some places longer wrenches cannot.

These wrenches have a superior cut and finish. They do have the Snap-On flank drive incorporated into the open end of the wrench. They are a beautiful set of wrenches made in USA. Today at work I had to borrow a Snap-On when a tool of lesser quality couldn't complete the job. I'm looking forward to trying them out tomorrow on a high performance jet. I'll find out if Williams matches the quality of Snap-On at a more affordable price. The mouth on the open end looks just slightly different than a Snap-On, only time will tell. I already own a few sets of Williams tools and have no complaints but they're older and don't incorporate the newer flank drive, and they're also the stubby/short wrenches. The flank drive system is suppose to get a better bite on the fastener without stripping it. As it stands now I'm totally satisfied with these wrenches. Already have them in my truck ready for work.

These wrenches have helped me rip out my old exhaust all the way up to the exhaust manifold on a rusty 96 Impala SS. They had no problems with bolts thanks to the Super Combo grip which consists of little notches placed in the open end of the wrench. The box end also has a similar mechanism to reduce the stress placed on the corners of fasteners. It is a very similar mechanism to Snap-On's Flank Drive Plus or Matco's Opti-Torque Pro or Wright's Wrightgrip. I actually like it more because it is not as aggressive in regards to stripping the bolts yet it still maintains a great grip on them. These are so expensive because they are made on the same line as Snap-On's Flank Drive Plus wrenches which happens to be in the US. Overall, the finish is great but not perfect. On the bottom portion of one of the open ends of the wrenches the chrome finish was uneven and dull. There were a few other minor cosmetic defects but they weren't enough to return the set. These come in 2 blue roll pouches, one for the smaller portion of the set and another one for the larger wrenches. These wrenches are known for having a beefy beam which is a characteristic I like and they are also a little bit longer than your standard combo wrench. Despite this fact, I haven't encountered any clearance issues. Some other pluses is that they don't dig into your hands and that they are sturdy enough to handle a high amount of torque.Overall, the versatility and value of this set is unmatched. A similar Snap-On set will cost you $360 retail for just the 10-19MM wrenches. At the very least, these meet the quality of the Snap-On wrenches and for many, are preferred for the aforementioned reasons. I have not used the imported Williams wrenches but a little research shows their quality is no where near that of these. They are in a similar league as the Blue-Point tools imported from Taiwan and Spain. Buy a good set of wrenches, take care of them and watch them last for future generations.
