Still nice and sharp after cutting 6 1" deep mortises in white oak, and several more test cuts in white oak and pine. They cleaned up nicely using Trend Tool & Bit Cleaner. All mortises have very smooth interior faces. No burning on the bit.

You get what you pay for. Whiteside router bits are outstanding. I use this bit to cut mortises in Beech. Cuts through it like butter and retains its edge.

This bit cuts through wood like butter. I used to have to wear earplugs when I did finger joints or box joints rather but now I can hear myself talk over the bit it's amazing. And the down cut version pulls all the saw dust into my router table. I highly recommend these bits you can't go wrong.

This bit is sharp. I use it on my router table like a jointer. It works awesome. I first tried to use a Chinese router bit and was very unhappy with the results.I installed the new one and it was like turning the lights on! What a wake up call…

I use this cutter for machining mortises for mortise and tenon wood joinery. With the commonly used straight fluted router bit, there is a buildup of wood chips in the mortise slot requiring you to have an air hose present to blow out the chips on every pass. With the Whiteside "up fluted" spiral router bit there is no chip build up at all and quality/accuracy of the cut slot is better.Dan E

Short for mortise cuts with bashings. I can go max 7/8 inch, but it is ok for other, straight cuts.

Whiteside bits were recommended to me by a fellow woodworker. I use them to rout out mortises and they work great. I've use this brand several times and they are still sharp and make clean cuts in the wood.

I use a up-cut spiral bit for cutting round tables and this bit is fast and causes very minimal tear out (even on cherry) It is a high quality bit that I will get a lot of use out of, and the 1 1/2" cutting height is very versatile. Often I need to cut 1" wood, and a 1" bit is to little but a 2" bit is cumbersome ( even dangerous). the 1 1/2" cutting length is perfect. The up-cut design throws the sawdust & chips up which keeps the cut clean on multiple passes instead of packing the trench full.
