Whiteside Machine Company has been in the router bit business for over 30 years providing customer with quality products while at the same time striving to achieve complete customer satisfaction. Several woodworking magazines have tested Whiteside versus the competition and selected Whiteside as the winner for best router bits available in the market. Whiteside Machine Company was founded in 1970 as a general purpose machine shop in the basement of Bill & Bobbie Whiteside's home. Located in Western North Carolina near the furniture manufacturing town of Hickory, the company was often involved in making repairs or special parts for the furniture and woodworking field. A strong commitment to customer problem-solving, a can-do attitude, and innovative ideas, along with a growing core of dedicated employees, helped the business evolve into a manufacturer of woodworking equipment and tooling. Primarily through repeat business and referrals, the tooling business continued to grow to meet a demand for quality production router bits as well as custom application tooling. Today, Whiteside Machine occupies a 40,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility and produces a complete line of solid carbide and carbide tipped router bits. Whiteside's quality, innovation, and customer commitment is still present in our superb product line, in the design of custom tooling to fill special customer requirements, and in the development of special machinery and tooling for our own manufacturing use. As always, Whiteside Machine is continuously striving to improve our product through new technology, improved production techniques, and ongoing research and development efforts; along with rigid quality control, vital customer feedback and extensive field testing. This is what you need for your Porter Cable 4212/4214/4216 Dovetail jig if you have a smaller router that only accepts 1/4 bits. Not much else to say - it works great, holds up as one would expect - stays sharpest when cutting soft woods of course, which is also most needed when cutting softwood to get a clean cut.It isn't as good as using a 1/2 shank bit - but if you had that ability, you probably weren't looking for this little gem either!

If you have a router with a 1/4" shank, and want to use a Porter-Cable 4200 series dovetail jig, then this bit is your solution. I recently purchased a used 4210 jig and needed to buy a new bit anyway. I figured I would get one from Porter-Cable, to use original equipment, but they only supply a 1/2" shank bit. The problem is that my only 1/2" shank router is what I use in my router table and the router that I would be using for this only has a 1/4" shank. So I researched and found this. Got it, tried it out, and it worked like it should, no issues.

I needed a 1/4" dovetail router bit to go with my Porter Cable dovetail jig (7 degree 17/32). This router bit worked perfectly! Super clean edges with no tear out. Will continue to buy this router bit for my PC jig!

This is a good solid router bit. I bought it to use with my PC dovetail jig. I have a Bosch router and the dovetail bit supplied with the Jig is pretty short. I only get about 1/2" of grab in the collet. This bit is a good 5/8" inch longer and has plenty of grab in the router collet.
