Lasted just over 2 years and 2 months. Replaced the one with same model number that came with the house. Original unit had one side stick ON and I ordered this one and had a HVAC tech install it. This unit I got from here on Amazon did the same thing, but on the other heater side. Now the house is 80 degrees when it's 50 degrees outside in late Feb again,. I read the bad reviews before but needed an exact replacement so I took the chance. It got me just over 2 years and now I have to get another and have a service call to get it replaced. When the new one is installed I am going to see if they can use something from another manufacturer in it's place. Emerson Electric now has parts made in China and they seem to be very unreliable. It's just a relay and cost's three times what it should anyway so it should at least last a reasonable amount of time. If there is enough electric wire free at the installation, I am going to put a pair of load break switchs in line with the two heater circuits so when it fails again; if it is stuck shut, I can at least shut off the stuck circuit until I can get a service man out to replace it again.

One of the 2 relays fails to close when thermostat calls for heat. When the thermostat calls for the bi-metallic levers are both heated and move away from the relay activation arm. But only one relay moves to the closed position. The other relay is stuck in the open position unless the activation arm is manualy moved.

It does nothing but turn the electric heat system on and off when the thermostat tells it to. Thats all it has to do. While it is working it does its simple task as it should. But over 20 years I have had to replace at least five times. One of the two halves of its circuitry get stuck in the ON position. This seems wrong. If I had more confidence in what is out there I would order a different one but I'm afraid I'm still functioning on the Better- the- Devil- You- Know way of thinking which I know is stupid.

Works as it should. Make sure to install these in a spot with no humidity! They will fail.

I've used this relay in the past and get around 6 heating seasons out of it before the relays stick closed (ON) . It has a built-is 24 volt thermostat transformer that works with 2 or 3 wire systems. It must be placed inside a steel electrical box so be sure you have one big enough to fit.
