A bear broke my old hinges. These were slightly larger so I had to drill new holes but in the end they worked perfect

I have bought five of these and would buy more if I had more gates! They are perfect for light to medium gate sizes, and they have a classic look. Jake Sales has fantastic customer service as well. I contacted them directly and they fixed an issue immediately, at no cost to me. Very impressed!

Very easy to install, seems very sturdy, does not work in the slightest for my roughly 50 lbs wood gate. Initially it seemed like it would work based on the strength of the spring, but due to its positioning it does not have the leverage to close the door with or without a gentle breeze. In fact it was holding the door open at a specific angle resisting closing the gate and resisting fully opening the gate. I initially thought I only needed to install one hinge because it seemed so strong but wouldn't close the door, so I installed the 2nd and the same thing happened. I figured I must have done something wrong, so I reset the resistance then retightened the springs and the same thing happened. This was a total waste of money! Not to mention I was figuring out how it was supposed to operate before I installed it on the gate and post and the thing snapped and busted my lip (my fault) but certainly demonstrated to me it was a hell of a lot stronger than a rat trap ya know? Anyway, I'll be looking for a better alternative. I went with this one because it match the aesthetic of the fence/gate, but it it for access the dog area of my yard and I really need an option that actually shuts the gate because people tend to not shuts gates behind themselves.

I had built a new gate for my side yard entrance and was looking for some decorative, yet self closing hinges.I drilled out the pilot holes to specifications and used the included lag bolts to attach. The bolts both sheared off at the head on driving them (gently) in to my post. I was a bit upset to say the least. Ran to my local HD and bought some stainless equivalent lags (in black) and drilled new pilots. Thankfully the hinge was large enough to cover the holes from the previous disastrous attempt.Finished install looks great and I’m happy with the hinges.
