This review is about the 2nd Wendry SD to SATA Adapter Converter. Shipping was fast. Like the 1st card, it worked to my approval. It still could use some LEDS to show activity. I am using a 128G SD card and the full capacity of the card seems to be available. The card is 2"x 3" and I had forgotten how small it is. I had planned to use it to replace a SD to IDE unit, but since it is a lot smaller, I will have to figure another way the secure it.

Tried in multiple computes (Linux, Windows) as well as devices -- both direct plug in to SATA slot as well as via several SATA-to-USB interfaces. Tried multiple SD cards of various sizes. Still failedDrive was recognizable but unable to mount, let alone read data. Even raw reading of the device hung and failed without any data being read.

installed this in an older laptop with a "SATA Hard Drive Caddy, Universal 9.5 mm SATA to SATA 2nd SSD HDD Hard Drive Caddy Adapter Tray Enclosures" now the sd card is still accessible without disassembly of the unit and the whole O/S is on the sd card, and it boots realitivly fast.

Pros:They work very well. The description says the device works with 32-64 gigabyte cards, but I am using it with a 128gb card with no issues so far.I installed one in an old Dell Inspiron 530 after cloning the 120gb SSD it had as an Operating System drive onto a Samsung 128gb Micro SD card via this device with both plugged into s USB 3.0 SATA dock. I then installed this device in the Dell and it booted beautifully, runs smoothly, and sees the 128 card as a Hard Drive.Cons:They are not free. Conclusion:This review is being written on a machine running on a card in one of these devices. I am also making brackets to allow me to mount this device in a machine so that I can access the card slot from the front of the machine, this will allow me to change operating systems before I boot a machine with ease. I just ordered two more and a different brand of Micro SD card with the same specifications to test if works with other brands.I will update this review over time to report any issues or successes, perhaps I will even try some 256gb cards...

I ordered this to overcome an issue with my server, which was running from a USB stick. After replacing the MB, the BIOS would always try to boot from SATA before USB, so it would try to boot to a drive with no boot sector and fail any unattended reboots. Using this, I was able to install the OS onto a SD card, and now the server can boot unattended. After a few failed attempts to install the OS to a SD inserted in this PCB, as the disk was not recognized as a possible install location, I first had to use a USB dongle to install the OS onto the target SD. Once the OS was installed and tested, transferring the SD from the dongle to this PCB allowed the server to boot directly from the SD. A very nice solution to the initial problem.

Buying this and setting it up as a computer storage device was a fun and revealing experiment. I can definitely see uses for this device when coupled with the proper SD card.
