As a healthcare professional this otoscope works great. I carry it in my pocket at work and don’t have to mess the our corded, wall mounted units. The speculas (Welch Allyn) at our clinic are meant for this product. Great purchase for me!

I bought this for looking in my grandchildrens ears. I am a retired doctor and my old one finally quit working after 40 year. Great little otoscope.

I ordered this as a gift for a starting doctor in the family. I like that the lens has a good focus range, you need not get the specula too close to the ear drum to see it, so it's safe and less intrusive. I didn't like that the handles has some rough edges and the switch mechanism does not inspire confidence. Yet, the accompanying documentation and the name "Welch Allyn" etched on the tiny bulb seem to suggest that this was indeed made in USA but cheaply made, considering the price 94U$. The user's manual was written in a dozen language but it failed to mention crucial information: the bulb code in case it burns out and you need to replace it, and battery type. I had to remove the bulb to see its code: 03400, and just inserted 2-AA alkaline batteries to verify its power supply. Overall though, it works as expected and was appreciated by the new doc. You can aim at some tiny text on paper and see that they're clear and sharp. I also ordered spare 03400 bulbs from amazon.

Didn't work & had broken piece that controlled what I don't know. The directions was worthless had no much information & way to many languages. If they just skipped all the other languages & printed a better direction paper then it would be a lot better. The light didn't work despite putting batteries in it. Checked to make sure it had a bulb which it did. I do think this particular one was sent back & the seller decided to resell it because it looked like someone else had used it. The disposable speculum was dirty with ear wax on it. Gross!!! Its to much of a hassle to send back so a waste of money!!!

After my training, I didn't need to use but held onto my original med school Welch Allyn kit and invariably the battery would go dead as I am not OCD enough to remember to periodically recharge it. This serves the purpose very well for the occasional time I need to use it to check out a friend or take on a trip to do medical work abroad as it is powered by AA batteries. Some have commented on not being able to see well with it. Compared to the normal Welch Allen rectanguar inch by inch and a half or so otoscope head, I can see just fine and I wear glasses.I agree that Welch Allen is too expensive but what in medicine doesn't seem overpriced? In this case, the extra money was worth it and I like the carrying case so I won't lose the set of Welch Allen earpieces which were included.

Does the job, but the power switch is flimsy. I am hopeful it doesn’t break. Thought it was turned off but that wasn’t the case and battery ran out as a result.
