I wanted to add storage to my 2020 desktop with an Intel motherboard and a 1 TB SSD drive running Windows 11. The $ per TB cost of this 14 TB HDD seemed almost too good to be true so I was a little skeptical and assumed there must be some downside. I am happy to report that so far I have found no downside and it has, if anything, exceeded my expectations. The drive is quiet, seems fast, of course not SSD fast, but HDD fast, worked with my existing SATA and PSU connectors, and didn't require anything other than the software that is already in Windows to initialize and do a quick format. I did have to Google "how to initialize and format a hard drive in Windows 11" to figure that last part out but once I did it was surprisingly easy. The drive is bare bones with no mounting hardware or screws. In my case, the mounting hardware came with my computer case so that was not a problem. For those that don't already know this, Windows uses the binary standard for a terabyte which equals 1,099,511,627,776 bytes so it will report the capacity as 12.7 TB but will also show that there are 14,000,500,764,672 bytes of free space available.

Have been using these drives for a few weeks and have had no issues. Had bought smaller refurbished HGSTs previously from the same seller (GoHardDrive) and all have worked perfectly for a few years as personal storage/backup drives.

Both of the drives I received were listed at zero hours.Currently healing my array right now so it’s a bit early to tell how good these drives are.Believe me I will update this if I receive an error.

This year, we purchased 4 HDDs. Number 1 was lost on Amazon, but I bought it again. I checked it on GM HDD CRYSTAL DISK INFO and there is no abnormality, but one HDD that has been used for 3 months is scratched from the inside. It's unsettling and unfortunate because it starts to make sounds.

Received a drive with 19 hours on it and only ONE power on / off cycle. Okay, drive was powered on and tested and sold, otherwise seems like it was new old stock. The threads for the screw mounts aren't even scratched up, this drive looks brand new.Tested it VERY thoroughly since I recieved it, its been seeing 100% read / writes for 3 solid days, its been written to and read twice now in full with butterfly testing on HDD Sentinel. Drive works absolutely amazingly, I couldn't be happier. Will buy more of these as budget allows!

April 25, 2024 update:1 of the 3 drives purchased has failed, just over a year of use. That seems a little short, even for recertified drives. 90 days isn't long enough to see if you have a good drive.Tech on Tech was the seller I bought the drives from for those who were curious.Original review:I bought 3 to use in a NAS. These appear to be fast data center factory recertified hard drives. They have "recertified" marked on the side, the label on the top of the hard drive is marked as such with late 2022/early 2023 recertified dates as well as a clean SMART info according to Crystal Disk Info. No error was detected from any of the drives. No warranty is stated but the 90 day return period should hopefully be enough time to weed out a faulty drive. Data center drives are one of the longest lived drives so hopefully these have a long 24/7 usage life. Will update if these end up being a disappointment.
