WCS1800 Hall current sensor has two main functions, the first function is an analogue signal followed by an op-amp, which is suitable for A/D conversion: the second function is a switching signal, which can be pre-set to limit the value of the current, and when the actual current value is greater than the pre-set value of the current, the switching signal will be changed from a low level to a high level, and there is a LED indicator to show the value of the current. Simple and easy to use.

Method of application

1, analogue voltage signal output (AOUT) instructions for use: detection current and analogue signal output relationship is as follows: analogue signal output: V0 = ± Ia * K (which la current Detection of the foot of the actual flow of current, K for the degree of linearity);.

Input current 1A, for example, Vcc = 5V, WCS1800 linearity is 60mV / A

We simply say that the wCS1800 detects the current and the output voltage corresponds to the relationship between the current flowing in from the positive direction.

Formula V0=+la*K, corresponding to the output: V0=(2.5+0.06)V=2.56V

When the current flows in the opposite direction.

Formula V0 = -la*K, corresponding to the output: V0 = (2.5-0.06)V = 2.44V If it is an AC signal: V0 = +la*K, V0 corresponding to the output range: 2.44V-2.56V.

The above is the ideal value, the actual value will have a certain small precision error.

2, switching output (DOUT) instructions for use if the current in a circuit, if the current is higher than 1A, the module is required to output a high level.

This module worked well compared to another I purchased from Adafruit. The Adafruit module was DOA and I ended up throwing away 3 units. I couldn't get customer support because no one at the company knew anything.

Cheap? You bet. Will it take a LOT of averaging to get a good signal? You bet.

I use it to detect when the sump pump switches on and off - draws current or not. Works with both 3.3 and 5 volt supply - the data sheets confirm this. Took me some time fiddling with the potentiometer to get it how I wanted it. And still I couldn't get the digital output to a proper "1" level. So I wired it to the analog input of my ESP8266, and was able to detect current reliably that way. Didn't bother with the analog output of the device (AOUT) at all.
