About this item

  • REPLACEMENT SENSOR VALVE: Designed for use on branched hot water lines coming from the water heater, the Watts Premier Replacement Sensor Valve can serve as a replacement valve or where an additional valve is needed.
  • INTEGRAL COMPONENT: The sensor valve is an integral part of the hot water recirculating system; it opens when the water on the hot water side cools, pushes the cool water back to the water heater, and closes when the hot water line hits 98 F.
  • SIMPLE DESIGN: Equipped with two 12" supply lines with adapter fittings, this replacement sensor valve has a simple design that makes it easy to install and replace, requiring no additional components.
  • INDOOR ONLY: Suitable for use with all types of pipes, this sensor valve is meant only for indoor use on standard tank water heaters in residential buildings; it is not compatible with tankless water haters or for outdoor applications.
  • EVERY DROP COUNTS: Water. It's in our name and close to our hearts. Since 1874, Watts Water Technologies has been delivering innovative technologies that make the world's most precious resource safe and accessible.

Designed for use on branched hot water lines coming from the water heater, the Watts Premier Replacement Sensor Valve can serve as a replacement valve or for adding an additional valve where it's needed. It is exclusively compatible with the Watts Premier 500800 or 500805 Hot Water Recirculating Pump models. Please note that this valve is not intended for use with dedicated return lines to the water heater.
As an essential part of the hot water recirculating system, the sensor valve enhances the efficiency of your hot water system by opening when the water on the hot water side cools, effectively pushing the cool water back to the water heater. Once the hot water line reaches 98°F, the valve closes, ensuring that you have immediate access to hot water while reducing the wait time. This not only improves comfort but also helps in conserving water.
This product includes two 12" supply lines with adapter fittings, making the installation and maintenance process straightforward and hassle-free. The simple design of the replacement sensor valve ensures that it can be easily installed without the need for additional components or specialized tools. For best results, avoid using thread sealant tape or pipe dope on the sensor valve threads during installation.
The Watts Premier Replacement Sensor Valve is compatible with all types of pipes, adding to its versatility. However, it is designed for indoor use only on standard tank water heaters in residential buildings. It is not suitable for use with tankless water heaters or for outdoor applications.

My instant hot water system was not working after it had been installed two years ago. Thought it was the pump but saw a Youtube video about what causes these problems. Changed out this valve and problem solved. There was a bunch of gunk built up in the old valve. Took about 10 minutes to replace.

Come with zero instructions. Like a valve in a plastic bag. I knew it didn’t come with adapters or water lines. But I didn’t realize how hard it would be to find proper 1/2 female compression to 3/8 male reducer adapter and how expensive they are. So after many trips to Home Depot trying different fittings that just leaked I finally dropped another $40 on the proper reducer. That’s on top of the $15 for two braided water lines! Joke.

I had a recirculation pump installed beside my hot water heater..the pump I selected didn't come with the sensor valve..it attached without any problem..I didn't want to invest in a tankless water heater since my now water heater was only 3 years old..after lots of research I decided that a recirculating pump would work perfectly for my needs..very happy with this sensor valve purchase.

Got this because the original one that came with the pump went out. This was an exact match and worked perfect.

Worked less than 2 months after installation and stopped working completely. Cleaned the original one and placed it back in service. For over $50 I expected this to last longer than 2 months. What a waste of money considering you can buy the whole new setup which includes the temperature valve for $200 and lasts longer than 2 months.

The original one of these failed after 6 years, we have very hard water. This is a good brand, identical to the original, thus easily installed and works great.

Originally bought the Navien navicirc recirculation valve as I had just installed a Navien water heater the water heater is great but the navicirc valve was horrible it howled like a cat in heat. Left all plumbing the same just installing the watts valve works perfectly very happy with my purchase. Valve on left is watts 1/2 the size of navicirc right

I have used this product for several years. It isn't perfect but I think it is worth it for saving water. Several people have commented the the valve doesn't last very long. Someone made a comment that you could restore a valve that was clogged by soaking it in CLR. I had a working valve but I thought I would clean it out by soaking in CLR. After soaking it for several hours, I washed it out and reinstalled it. Now it does not work at all. If you seal up the hot out and cold out with you finger and blow into the hot in you can feel the air coming out the cold in. After soaking in CLR, I could no longer blow through the valve. Testing the valve following the instruction to turn off the cold water supply valve open the cold water faucet valve should get a small flow of cold water for up to a minute and then the flow should decrease showing that the water on the hot side has reached 95 degrees, The now soaked valve would not allow any water from the cold faucet. The valve was totally inop.

Not sure what causes this valve to stop functioning at same temperature differential as it does when first installed, but it only takes about 15 minutes to replace old one with new. Price is a consideration, but out of 3 valves, only one in the far guest bathroom needed replacing after about 3 years. Have not needed to replace the Watts recirculating pump, and using this system has consistently provided hot water just seconds after turning the tap on. Very pleased with this system.

This valve replaced the original valve, which had failed under normal use. I agree with others who say the valve seems to be overpriced, but replacing the valve is a cost-effective option compared to shopping for and purchasing a more dependable system.I bought the Watts system (pump & valve) in January 2017. In November 2019, so after less than three years, the valve stopped working; it stayed closed, and would not open, so whether the pump was running or not, we did not have hot water in a short time as expected. I ordered a replacement valve from Amazon and after it was installed, the system was working again. I wasn't able to figure out how to dismantle the valve as mentioned by another reviewer, and tried CLR briefly but decided to just use vinegar. After I immersed the faulty valve in vinegar (5% acetic acid) for six to eight weeks, I was pleasantly surprised that the original valve had apparently come back to life! Now the valve is open when at room temperature, and is closed after running hot water (105° or so) through it for a few seconds. You can test a valve by plugging the outlet for the hot water tap with your finger and blowing into the "hot" end of the valve. Listen for air to exit the "cold" side of the valve when the valve is cool, no air exiting when the valve has been warmed up. I won't know for sure if this original valve will function until my replacement fails and I reinstall the original valve, but I have reason to be optimistic that I won't have to buy a new valve every two to three years. The valve I purchased from Amazon seems to work exactly as well as the original product. I rate it at four stars to acknowledge that if people have not yet purchased a system, they may want to look for a model that is more robust than the Watts product.
