  • ✅【Why care about TDS?】: High TDS level will change the taste of water, making it salty, bitter or metallic. High levels of TDS also indicate the presence of toxic minerals which is harmful to health. High TDS will harden the water, cause fouling in pipes, dry hair, spots on tableware and also make the kitchen utensils useless. A ppm meter can help you to avoid above problems. According to the EPA, the maximum concentration of TDS for drinking water is 500 ppm.

A little difficult to interpret the results, wrong tool for what I hoped to accomplish.

Readings were inconsistent and all over the place. Did not self-adjust to compensate for temperature. The same exact water sample had hugely different TDS readings depending on temperature.I would test multiple water samples at one time and then check them again a few hours later and the TDS readings would be completely different. Sometimes just minutes apart, the reading would be significantly different. This TDS meter was pretty much useless.

Worked well to begin with. After about 10 uses it completely died. Might just be the batteries but I'll figure that out later. For temperature it takes a while before it gives an accurate reading.

I got the meter and thought it might be broken. I’m not sure why they have batteries in the unit after testing from the manufacturer. Purchased new batteries and the unit functions as indicated. Tap water tested to 79 and distilled water tested to 0

I was highly skeptical of the readings at first. Tap water measured at ~200, filtered fridge water tested at ~150, filtered bottled water tested at ~190. Room temperature filtered water tested at ~180... didn't seem to make sense.I only gained confidence in the results when I tested it against distilled water, measured a perfect zero. Added bottled water and the numbers slowly went up. Cool. Also temperature effects TDS measurements, look it up: "TDS Conductivity of ions in water depends on the water temperature. Ions move faster when the water is warm." So for apples to apples comparison, make sure the water is the same temperature. Finally, this also made me think that TDS measurements aren't that helpful for testing drinking water. If bottled water can be as high as 190 and taste great, then what's the point of a low TDS number if you're not even sure what is being filtered out? I know spring water has minerals, which makes it taste better. All you're able to figure out is whether the filter you're testing is removing *some* stuff but you won't know if it's the right stuff.Still, the product worked as advertised and at a good price.
