The fountain is like in the pictures and everyone likes it. The lights can be left unplugged if you prefer. The power brick says it is only rain-proof and is designed to be plugged into a GFCI A covered outlet. I got an outdoor power cord enclosure so I could plug it into an extension cord. The packaging is a big block of moulded Styrofoam that was pretty messy and needed a vacuum to clean up but it did its job of protecting the fountain from a big dent in the box.Edit:After 8 months of constant operation, the fountain is still working.

The only negatives are:a) it splashes small water droplets up to 1ft away from the front... not immediately noticable but over time you can clearly see it... especially if you have hard water.b) the lights are a little... stark. Would have been nicer if they had a warmer color to them. You can leave them unplugged and it still looks great.Notice that you will see tiny bubbles in the water (won't look clear) until you fill up the device with enough water. It takes more water than you might think.I've seen the same waterproof plugs for fountain lights before, so if the AC adapter ever dies, it's almost certain you can get another. The pump is a small one that can be easily replaced as well - might run you ~$25 to do so.Other than that, it's recommended that you get 'algaecide and clarifier' solution to keep it running well and the water from having too much buildup & killing the pump sooner than necessary. (it usually comes concentrated, and a capfull is more than enough for a couple months if left inside). From this point, it's super easy to maintain and enjoy. 2 months in, it shows no signs of having physical, mechanical or electrical issues. We put it on a large plastic placemat because of the splashing water I mentioned before.

This fountain is nice, looks nice to look at specially at night with the lights on. I do wish the sound is a bit louder. The kids like to wash their hands from the dripping fountain. Setup is fairly easy however the pump design is a bit annoying, there are 4 small suction cups to keep the pump submerged but it's not good when attaching to the bottom as it's not a smooth surface, basically when it gets moved the pump will stop pumping water through the fountain. This fountain requires 2 separate power, one for the pump and another for the lights. It would have been nice to have just 1 power source and the ability to turn off the pump or lights directly from the fountain.Overall this is very nice to look at, it is small that it would look nicer on a table top or pedestal. We'll see how many more times I have to adjust the pump to get the water flowing, it's a bit annoying.

I like the look of it except for the faux metal. It looks so fake. Design Toscano really needs to step up on how they portray metal with resin. They do great withother Others do it a lot better. The fountain works very well, the pump is strong and the water sounds nice. The lights look really nice at night and make the water glow. Unfortunately there were no instructions which you would think is okay but I was confused as to where to leave the electric cords: Inside or outside. I opted for outside. You also need to use two receptacles as the cords for the pump and the lights are separate.
