This HDMI Audio Extractor is an excellent solution for those looking to connect modern HDMI devices to older audio systems without HDMI inputs. The package includes an RCA cable, a USB-A to USB-C power cable, and an HDMI extender (male-to-female). While the extender’s intended use isn’t immediately clear—since an HDMI extension typically requires a female-to-female adapter—the other included accessories are practical and useful.I ordered this extractor to integrate my Raspberry Pi and other HDMI-output devices with my old receiver, which lacks HDMI inputs and has only optical inputs. Rather than relying on digital-to-analog conversion, I wanted my receiver’s DAC to handle the decoding of digital audio signals directly. Initially, I considered the HiFiBerry Digi2 Pro, but its higher cost and Raspberry Pi dependency made it a less flexible option. This extractor, on the other hand, provides a completely transparent passthrough mode, ensuring that the audio signal remains unaltered. I connected the HDMI input through an HDMI switcher, allowing me to seamlessly toggle between multiple devices. As an audiophile, I am extremely impressed with this solution. It offers lossless audio extraction with no perceptible degradation, making it a reliable component in any high-quality audio setup. The built-in switch allows you to toggle between passthrough, 5.1, and 2-channel output. While I don’t have a 5.1 setup to test that functionality, the 2-channel and passthrough modes perform identically, with passthrough being my preferred option to fully leverage my receiver’s DAC.At just $15, this device is an absolute game-changer for those wanting to connect HDMI sources to older audio systems while maintaining pristine sound quality. If you’re looking for a cost-effective and transparent audio extraction solution, I highly recommend it.

The reason I got this is because I wanted to play console games on my monitor. My monitor only has DVI and DP port and no HDMI.I could connect HDMI to DVI adapter, but in this way, only video can be converted. At least for the Nintendo Switch, I could connect the speaker to the earphone port, but for others, there was really no choice. Now, this is sitting between HDMI to DVI cable and the HDMI cable from the console.Although this required another HDMI cable from this unit to the console, this worked perfectly. For now, I am only using 2.0 mode so have no idea how other mode works, but I might be able to use other modes when my speaker setting gets better. As this works as intended, I give 5 stars.

The WARRKY 4K HDMI Audio Extractor works great to pull the stereo audio off an HDMI signal. My use case was a computer monitor that did not have audio support. By putting this box inline with the HDMI cable, I'm able to tap into the audio using the 3.5mm jack and run it to speakers. I did not test the optical digital output but I could see a red light behind the plug cover. I am not exactly sure what the 3 position switch does, but whenever you change the position, the HDMI feed is interrupted for a second, and then is restored - I found the stereo audio was present in all three positions. It is nice to have the option to use 3.5mm analog or digital optical in cases where you may want to use a soundbar with that optical input. The case is well constructed with the main body appearing to be aluminum, and it comes with a USB-C power cable and 3.5mm to RCA adapter. It even comes with an HDMI cable connector, but I'm not sure how it helps when using this product. Overall I think it's a great product at a value price.

The Warrky HDMI audio extractor can take an HDMI signal and extract the audio from it while simultaneously displaying the HDMI picture and sound on a device like a television. You can send the audio through a 3.5 mm audio port or an optical audio port. I don't have any devices with an optical input, so I won't be able to review that part of the device at this time. The packaging includes a USB-C power cable, a 3.5 mm AUX to RCA plug, an HDMI extender and the HDMI audio extractor. The device is small enough to fit into the palm of my hand and it has a sound channel switch on one end. The sound channel switch allows you to switch between P, 2.0 and 5.1. P directly transmits unprocessed audio and the output is the same as the input. 2.0 is for stereo devices and requires a 2.0 channel device as the input source. 5.1 is for multi-channel sound systems and requires a 5.1 channel audio device. When the device is plugged in or is connected to another device with a power source there is a red light that can be seen where the optical output port is. I tested this device with a USB HDMI capture device, a television with an HDMI port, stereo headphones, a stereo amplifier and the line in jack in my computer. The headphones worked, so that I could hear the audio to my game system while recording with the HDMI out going to an HDMI capture device in my computer. I would suggest connecting a 3.5 mm volume control wire to your headphones if you are going to do this, so that you can adjust the audio going to your headphones. If the sound is too loud, it is a little tinny. The stereo amplifier sounded great, when connected to the 3.5 mm stereo jack in the device. I have an old stereo system where everything is analog, so I used the AUX to RCA cable that came with the device. The line in jack in the computer sounded great and I used it to record audio with Windows Voice Recorder. I accomplished this by connecting a 3.5 mm stereo cable to the 3.5 mm audio out on the device and into the blue line in jack in the back of my computer. The HDMI signal to my television looked and sounded great while doing everything that I mentioned above. I am impressed with this device. It is very affordable, compact and the sound quality was excellent. I will update my review once I have an optical cable to test with the device.
