I now have all three Vogue knitting books and they offer invaluable help. This books picks up a lot of the things that are not clear or complicated from the other books. Love it!

Written by experts but hard to follow for a beginner like me. Worst of all are the photos to show the basics. Using red thread against a red background is simply awful. I would think Vogue should understand the importance of contrasting colors for clarity. Definitely needed a second beginner book to supplement this one.

The patterns in this book are lovely, but the basics at the beginning of the book are difficult to follow. The slip knot instructions, which is the first step, do not make sense. I go my crocheting expert sister to try the instructions and she couldn’t even make it work.I used a WikiHow page for the basics, and I picked the book back up later in the knitting process. The photo design is also bazaar. They used red thread on a red background. It does not make it easy to tell what’s going on.

I bought this book for my daughter, who is interested in learning how to knit. We had looked at several craft stores for knitting books, but really didn't find what we were looking for. I found this amazingbeginner knitting book on Amazon and I'm thrilled with it, as is she.

I bought this book because the one I already had about knitting, though complete, lacked that guidance and clarity I was looking for. Looking at the table of contents from the sample, I thought this was the perfect little extra to set me on the right path. I wasn't expecting it to cover everything knitting has to offer. But to cover the very basics a beginner needs to know, and do it well. Extremely disappointed. It spends a lot of pages on yarn and material (not to mention the 25 projects) but not even a third of a page on how to hold needles (and no image). Instructions are unclear, the "knit-wise" bind-off section... well, I hope I am one bad learner, because seems like instructions are missing for the very last stitch... etc. And the rest of the book... not any better. And let's add that weird idea of having a background the same color of the yarn used for illustration...

Instructive for someone who had never knitted. The illustrations are really helpful in guiding you toward what works for you.

I bought this book as a gift for someone who has never knit but wants to learn. As an experienced knitter myself I wanted something that explained things clearly and used good photographs to illustrate and this book does just that.
