The kit is ok but it is too small to learn how to use.... the instructions need to have photos. i did return these and trying with a larger yarn.

There were so many breaks ( knots where the yarn has been broken) in just one skein, it was totally unusable for the project I am making . Very very disappointed in this product. It feels very nice and soft, then you come across knots that break the color continuity . 5 knots in one skein is unacceptable , in my opinion . Thumbs down

Not completely new to knitting or crochet. Directions were completely useless. I went onto you tube to find actual directions to make a sock. Then I stopped using this TINY thin yarn because the progress for someone new will be FOREVER.Do yourself a favor - goto you tube, find an instruction video you love, and buy yarn and a hook to match that.

No sock pattern, no instructions for measurements for different sizes, just instructions for basic cast on and a couple of different stitches.

Simple easy to follow instructions and 2 different sets of needles to try. Both are making it easy for me to start on my first knitting project

A definite no if needing for the instructions. There is not really anything in them that tells you what to measure, why, or how to adjust the number of stitches for a sock that would fit. The instructions as they are written would just get you a long piece of flat knitting that tapers at the end. Then it has you sewing it into the tube to somewhat resemble a sock. There is not any shaping for the heel. The items in the kit are pretty good. The yarn is soft and squishy. Kit comes with bamboo straight needles and metal straight needles. great for a beginner to try out both. A beginner could do well with the supplies in this kit if they found a video online for the sock instruction with a different/actual pattern.

First off - I would HIGHLY recommend that in order to better understand the instructions that are included with this kit you find a tutorial online for how to knit socks and watch that prior to even trying to read the instructions. If you know basic knitting already, that should help at least some. Then, I recommend you practice basic knitting before taking this on.All of that said, this does include written instructions with pictures. It's great that this information is there but if you're more action-oriented watching a video will help more although this will likely serve as a good reminder. There is a booklet included and it discusses types of knitting needles, types of yarn, knitting abbreviations, then gives two basic knitting tutorials with various knitting directions included, and then goes in to how to knit socks. If this works for you - great. But I do recommend watching a video, personally. The kit includes a "sock" yarn that is definitely not the softest sock yarn I've ever seen but they're really great for beginning. It also includes metal knitting needles, bamboo knitting needles, plastic needles, embroidery snips, 10 stitch markers, and a tape measure. It really is the basics of what you'll need to get started. I think the price is definitely fair for what you get!I would recommend this kit for a gift for beginners - whether it's someone you want to help get started into a hobby, or someone who already knits that you want to treat. It's a good gift idea at a great price!
