Have always loved crushed ice and have purchased many counter top electric ice crushers over the years. They always seem to break/quit working after a short time. My last unit broke a few weeks ago, so I decided to go this route instead. I love this. It’s simple, quick, does a fantastic job. I crush my ice, and then just plop the bag over a tall cup to dry. The mallet is heavy duty, and the bag is heavy, stiff canvas, allowing it to stand up to the pounding. Happy crushing!

Fun to beat ice into nearly snow for a nice cocktail. Mallet is sturdy and bag air dried fairly quickly without issue. No more trying to do this with a muddler and ziplock bag for me!

This is a high quality tool to make crushed ice for those summer drinks. The mallet is perfect weight and size, the canvas bag is well made and and of high quality material. Just be careful about the size, this bag can only hold enough ice for maybe 1 drink, so if you want to make more at one time, get a larger bag. Otherwise, we love this product and use it often.

For making a perfect mint julep! This hammer & bag combo is the way to go for crushed ice! You feel mighty and all powerful wielding this wooden mallet, be careful with its power as it is not a toy. I've made many a perfect mint julep using these devices, they've held up well. Easy to clean and very easy to store away. Very easy to use - fill bag almost full with ice, then proceed to wack with mallet until satisfied.

Just to give you some idea, I used to use a dish rag and a rolling pin to crush ice and it was a miserable experience. You can damage the pin or rip the rag, or shoot ice everywhere and plain make a mess, afterwich you'll find your crushed ice fused to the rag. There had to be a better way, so I ordered this and its amazing. With an actual mallet, you can focus your force far better, its made of wood so it won't damage the canvas bag, which is very sturdy, the canvas absorbs the excess water, the ice dosent stick to it and it's sewn all around with a flap, so no mess. And if you want to save some leftover crushed ice, simply pop the bag in freezer, it'll keep your crushed ice loose and clean. I love this kit, I know you'll love it too.

If your refrigerator does not make crushed ice (ours does not unfortunately) then this Lewis bag is helpful for cocktail making or any other instance where you would need or want crushed ice. The mallet is quite substantial and it is easy to go overboard and make powdered ice rather than crushed, so take it easy and learn how much pounding is needed for perfectly sized ice. Also, do not fill the bag too full, because then some will be crushed, some will stay large, and some will be snow. Finally, make sure you use all of the ice or empty it out, because the bag is not waterproof and will leak onto wherever it stands. All in all it serves its purpose well and I'd recommend this as a good choice for a Lewis bag and mallet.

La bolsa y el mazo son de buena calidad. Quedé especialmente conforme con el mazo ya que su tamaño y peso es ideal para triturar sin mucho esfuerzo el hielo.He visto críticas a la bolsa. En mi caso no he usado tantas veces la bolsa como para que se maltrate, aunque yo la veo de suficientemente bien hecha. Claro que con el uso va a empezar a maltratarse por los golpes. Habrá que ver qué tanto dura y cuando se rompa, sugiero buscar el mismo material en una mercería y hacer otra bolsa, ya que creo que lo más valioso del paquete es el mazo.

Demasiado pequeño, solo para 1 coctel. Hielo pega al bolso dentro. No vale la pena.
