I ordered this based on the advertised dimensions and product reviews. What I got was GINORMOUS. I’ll have to order something else for a viola.

Have a 16.5" viola. Mute is not close to fitting either viola bridge I have. Need to return or refund

I can use this on my violas with bridges up to 45 millimeters. It does not fit well on the viola with a 50 millimeter bridge. It has a little more tone than the metal practice mutes. Should it pop off from the vibration of your instrument it does not mar the finish the way a metal mute does.

Appear slightly larger than my violin mute but this definitely will not fit over the bridge of my 15” viola. Returned.
