These sticks feel so good to play on any surface that you gotta have the music completely internalized. You won’t get a lot of feedback from them. Made by the jazz master Peter Erskine so this is to be expected. Wouldn’t recommend for beginners, but great for advanced players who need a light stick.

I bought these quite a while ago now after being recommended by my teacher. I've been playing the drums for more years than I can remember, predominantly with Zildjian 3ANN and VicFirth American Classic 5As and 7As. I had to borrow my teacher's Peter Erskine 'Ride Sticks' one lesson when I'd forgotten my own sticks and they were a game changer! Perfect length, perfect weighting, perfect thickness - especially for jazz!

I'm only a player of about 12 years, and idk who Peter Erskine is but I absolutely love these sticks. I always liked the tip size of a 7A but had a hard time gripping with the small diameter of them, so I preferred the 5's, which are pretty heavy to me. Until I found these which are a great Fusion of the two. Been through a few pairs so far and dont think I'll change.

I was looking for a stick that would help me to keep dynamics in check in smaller settings without giving me a thin sound or losing the body/tone of the drums. These do that really well and I've been very pleased so far. The stick feels pretty good overall. The rebound has not blown me away, but is plenty sufficient. They aren't going to play softly for you, but they do produce very nice sounds at softer to mid-range dynamics and produce excellent articulation. These will work at louder volumes, but I would probably go with something else for heavy playing or even just in a place where I can let loose a little more.

These are my go-to for jazz playing. The gentle tip makes any ride cymbal sound so much better, and the extra length really helps with rebound. The tips have a great smooth cymbal sound once you break them in a bit, so give it like a week and they’ll sound amazing. They might look thick but are surprisingly light for their thickness and length, and are very ideal for playing of all dynamics, and will even use them when I need to play at my most gentle, as the extra size gives you excellent control of the stick.

I am a professional drummer and use these sticks in the main band I play for. We play a mix of rock blues and reggae. I choose to give these a go for a couple of reasons. I've been a regular vic firth 5a guy for years now but they are a l little too big for smaller gigs where I have to be mindful of my volume, and i've always been running on fumes by the end of my gigs. I tried these sticks a while back and remembered how much I liked the feel so I decided to give them another try. Well after playing a couple of gigs with these sticks, i'm blown away. They are a perfect blend of weight, balance and feel. Not too big, and not too small. I can be way more dynamic with my playing, and feel way more in control. To top it off they are holding up better than any of the 5a sticks I've ever bought. No splitting or breaking and i'm a heavy hitter. (grew up playing metal). I'm sure that these sticks are great for jazz music, but If you play other styles of music besides jazz you owe it to yourself to give these a try. Fly high Vic Firth, and thank you for your great sticks.

This is a fantastic drumstick. The long taper and back-heavy feel contribute to the best rebound I've ever felt in a stick. The shape of the tip lends a very articulate, delicate sound to cymbals, particularly the ride. If you're like me and enjoy playing intricate sticking patterns on the ride but don't want the wash of the cymbal to muddy things up, this tip is great. Drums and cymbals are inherently quite loud instruments, so you really don't need to beat them senseless to achieve volume, but it goes without saying that these relatively light sticks wouldn't hold up in an extreme metal scenario. However, I don't find them to be too light to be versatile, as is the case with a stick like the Regal Tip Jazz. Another great stick, but only useful for very light playing. I don't play strictly jazz, but I love the light feel and delicate tips because they give me a greater degree of dynamics control. I can play very quietly, but also lay into it and not feel like I'm doing all the work. If I really need a fat, thick sound, I can always flip them around and play the butt-ends.In short, a great pair of sticks with excellent rebound and a clear, articulate sound. Highly recommended.

A light weight, jazz oriented drum stick pair that give a laid back sound to cymbals for softer playing and a lighter sound to the drums when played. They are beautifully balanced - I have another pair that I use again and again. Impressive durability. If I want more power, I turn the stick on the left hand backwards (as they are slightly rounded on the butt end) and deepen the drum tone. These should be in everyone's drumstick arsenal.

This is my favorite stick, especially when I play jazz. It has a great balance, rebound from the ride, of course, and a great tone on the ride, or any other drum for that matter. But this tone, and rebound feel, is a light tone, which helps with speed. But the balance and speed of the stick (now I'm getting a bit subjective) means that you have to work with the stick more (as opposed to working the stick itself). So if you're looking for a heavy sounding stick, this isn't it. I try and keep a couple different kinds of sticks (these and some with slightly heavier heads) around for that matter.
