Its a pretty simple joint the swivel joints are just steel on steel pin through a hole. So low speeds unless the shaft is pretty straight. I use mine for a ice cream maker shaft from a Hit and Miss engine (1920s). As I say the shaft is pretty straight so the joints don't do a lot of "Flexing". The shaft only turns about 60rpm. Probably just the sort of application (low rpm low torque) the joint was made for.

Good light to medium duty. wouldnt use these for steering but work good for control rods

Nice U joint. It rotates very smoothly. I am using it between a motor and gearbox whos' shafts do not align quite as well as they should.There is one set screw per coupler. Before I do a final install of everything, I will likely add another to each side of the couplings. The set screw holes are not deep enough to stack 2 screws in them, so they should have a little thread locking compound as well.So far, I am pleased with this product.

Inner diameter is not .5 inches. It is considerably smaller.
