I'm in the process of setting up an online knife business and it's quite difficult to take pictures of shiny blades for my website. So, I thought that I'd give this a try - it's turned out to be a home run! Using this along with a truly vertical overhead camera mount with clean, white light, my pics have come out looking like a pro did them. I'm no pro; if you're not a pro and need to take pics of shiny objects, this is worth it's weight in gold and will make your life a whole lot easier. It's a great product!

Yes it's a bit pricey. Yes, you could make your own. But by the time you'd found a material that works this well, figured out how to cut it to form this shape, and somehow fastened the edges together, you'd have spent a lot of time on something not quite as good, and wish you'd just bought this instead.I popped it together, put some lights on it, and got the perfect shot. Bing. Just like that.

The Light Cone is very effective at diffusing light sources and controlling reflections. This is a simple solution capable of solving lighting issues in many applications.

It genuinely works just as advertised. For one example that is admittedly as basic as I am, see my two attached pictures. Note the difference in the light reflection on the bowl between the two. The cone itself is also a good material and connects with 3 buttons. It's easy to unbutton, flatten, and store.

Very expensive for what it is… it’s also a pain to store it and not bend it. Forget about traveling with it. It does work well for product shots, but I don’t think I would buy it again. Better ways to get the same result.

My first project was a series of catalog shots of watches. The cone did amazing well at hiding all of the glare. I watched Karl Taylor's video and learned how to add in some reflections using tape. The whole project went amazingly well and only took about 90 minutes instead of an entire day. Well worth it.

After V-Flat was able to replace the damaged model I got, this works well and does what it’s supposed to do. I am thinking of so many ways to use this and will be purchasing other things from V-Flat world.
