Bought this to do a gear job on a 05+ Super Duty axle. I knew from past experiences that the bearing preload is quite a bit on these axles and finally decide to get my own case spreader to make gear installs faster. I saw one person noted in their review that this wouldn’t work on a Super Duty 60 but I thought I’d give it a chance. When to set it up on the axle and found that this tool ran out of threads by 1 1/2” before reaching the axle jacking holes . For anyone’s reference the jacking points on my axle measured at 14 3/16” center to center. I found that the mounting block for the jacking screw on the tool had plenty of material contacting the side arms and decided that I would cut the welds, repositioning the block, and weld everything back together. Moving this allowed me to spread my differential to the recommended max of 015”. I did have a JK Dana 44 sitting in the shop and I did confirm that it still works on a smaller axle. Unfortunately I don’t have any Dana 70s or 80s in the shop so I can’t confirm those ones. The quality of the tool is surprisingly good for the price but be aware once it’s assembled it is a heavy tool. During testing I felt unsure of the quality of the grade 5 hardware so I’ll be upgrading to grade 8 to handle the stress. Good luck to anyone reading this!

It's heavy to lift in place if your working of of jack stands but if you had the vehicle on a lift or the rear end out of the vehicle would be easier. But we'll made heavy duty tool and alot cheaper than the factory tool buy at least 700.00 dollars.

This diff spreader worked perfectly for me. Probably my second favorite tool in the garage mostly because of how much time it saved me. A few years ago I pulled my front carrier without a spreader and it literally took me an hour and a half of prying and hammering to get it out.Once I got this heavy sucker in place it took mabe 15 minutes and a couple little taps with a rubber hammer. My jeep has a 4 in lift and I jacked it up as high as I could get it then removed the wheels and let it down as far as the limit straps would go and the diff spreader fit right on there.

Very well made and very heavy duty. I weighs 38 lbs. It's either powder coated or painted in a heavy enamel paint. I used on a Dana 60 rear end and it worked great. It doesn't need assembly instructions. It's very easy to figure it out. I agree with someones other comment that if you can't figure out how to assemble it. You should not be rebuilding the rear end.

This in fact does fit a D80 housing! I read the mixed comments and took a chance but it works great. Came packaged nicely and easy to assemble.

Really expensive paper weight! Doesn’t fit for Dana 60 or 80 so don’t bother if that’s what you’re looking for!!DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ITEM !!

Used for re-gearing my Jeep JK. As expected, it is big and heavy to accommodate all housings up to DANA 80. Anyone expecting it to be small and light needs to realize it is made to spread steel cast housings. I wouldn't take anything wimpier. Worked as it should with minimal effort. Steel is good and the welds are good. Not sure how it will work on anything bigger than DANA 44, but for what I used it, it was perfectly fine. It is a must, IMHO, if you are removing and installing a differential carrier PROPERLY.

Used this on a Dana 35, worked well, very sturdy. More than enough for the casual use I’ll give it, and 1/4 the price of the OTC one
