First unit just boiled water, upper top has a fan that never came on. Second unit works and has been constantly running, works well, and will run daily for a while to ensure function. Distills water a gallon in about 3 hrs using 750 watts. Great for making distilled water! Worth the hundred bucks if it last a year distilling water!

If you use these distillers daily I wouldn't count on them working and good luck getting them fixed. We purchased one in March of 2023 and liked it and purchased a second one in July of 2023. The first one just stopped working in January 2024 the panel went blank, no warnings, or indication prior to it failing. I contacted support and after a couple of weeks they sent me the circuit boards for the unit without any instructions. I figured it must be a simple matter of swapping cards like in a PC. Unfortunately one of the cards is glued to the panel so replacing it isn't feasible. The second unit we purchased in July failed in February. Same thing blank panel nothing works. So they are lasting less than a year with daily use. They last long enough so you can't return them but still under warranty but the warranty isn't any good at this point.Update: July 2024 - The bottom line is Vevor won't honor their warranty. I've went back and forth with them and they absolutely will not take their products back for repair or replacement. The best they offer is replacement parts that you have to install yourself. That would be acceptable for me but the repairs involves removing glued on panels. If you have to remove glued on pieces from the broken product then it should be replaced or repaired by them.

Bought this because our city water is horrible and I am a prepper so needed a way to make our tap water drinkable. This does that. Works great and will do a gallon of water in no time. Our water is really hard and this makes a gallon with little mess or limes scale. It comes with lime remover but if you wipe it out with a paper towel after each use, you only need to descale about every 50 gallons. It is easy to use and shuts itself off when done. Very quiet. I highly recommend this item. You won’t be disappointed.

If you check my other reviews you will see I try to call it like it is. That said I have to say this unit is one of the most well thought out and engineered of its type. In the month I have had it it has worked seamlessly. Plusses1. Clean crisp design and high quality materials means it looks good just about anywhere you put it. Great with our other stainless steel appliances.2.Built in handle in the condensing unit makes lifting it off for refilling much easier than other brands.3. Sturdy design for the electrical plugs makes it much easier to connect and disconnect the unit.4.THE ONE FEATURE THAT SETS THIS UNIT MILES ABOVE most of the others offered it the built in timer and temperature control unit. It not only gives you the options to change the values it defaults to a time of 3 hr 30 min. on start up. This is exactly the time needed to distill 1 tankful and leave about an inch of water left so as to not bake the minerals on the inside of the unit. This feature indicates some serious engineering design was put into the unit. A friend has a different brand and has to constantly check to avoid all the water being boiled. NegativesThe only suggestion I might add it to have the timer shut off the digital display 30 mins or so after the distillation is complete. Either that or an off switch to turn off the power to the unit to save the display.

Hasta ahorita me ha funcionado muy bien, lo ocupo al menos una vez a la semana para destilar agua que es la que utilizo en mi autoclave, no he tenido ningún inconveniente hasta ahora.

ANOTHER UPDATE (2/2024)They sent a low wire platform (1" high) with the new one, presumably to help keep the electronics cooler/make them last longer? DON'T USE IT. The way the feet work on the bottom of the unit makes it very difficult to put it on the low platform in a way that is both level and stable. The platform's feet are too close to the middle and make it unstable as well. Mine took a nosedive off the counter while running. Now the electronics are flaky. So one last try. Buy the unit with insurance. In my case, it was still in the 30 day Amazon return period so I got a refund on the insurance and returned the unit. 3rd time is the charm or 3 strikes and you're out? We'll see. Going with red 750W because don't see the silver ones, and the redesigned white version doesn't appear to have a timer???UPDATE (1/2024)I bought this in 11/2022, and it just died (so 2 months after warranty expired). Until then I was quite happy with it. It died but then revived once before several months ago... I'm hoping it was just getting something wet that shouldn't be wet when it was being cleaned... but it might really be dead now. Quality Control/parts quality is not awesome it seems, so -1 star. My concern is that the QC on other stills in this category (household use) won't be much better (given my experience with another vendor). My current plan is to try one last time with Vevor and keep the old one for parts. (No obvious salt deposits on electronics inside. No signs of burnt out bits... so, hopefully a different part will fail next time.) Don't want to seal the bottom for heat reasons, but might have to get creative to protect it during cleaning????Notes:Citric Acid is CheaperWhite vinegar cleans very well, but food grade citric acid (powder) is MUCH cheaper and also works. Don't run it dry, (use the timer to leave about 1/2-1" (2cm) of liquid in bottom). Dump the briny water. Sprinkle maybe 1/2 tsp of citric acid powder onto the salt residue, and add fresh tap water to cover. Lightly scrub then let sit for at least 5 min. You then either dump/rinse with tap water, or add tap water to an inch or so above the fill line and let it sit longer to dissolve the less intense salt film that builds up over time. Then rinse, fill, and run your next batch. (I like to clean the bottom only between runs when I'm doing a couple batches in a day, and always fill/soak it to get the sides when I'm done running it for a bit and will put it away (dry) for a few days.)SealIf the seal at the top is bad, try loosening the single screw in the bottom until you can raise the inner container up a bit (like half an inch), then reseat it and retighten the screw (don't over tighten). This may fix the bad sealing issue some have mentioned?Tubing is ConvenientI ended up using 1/4"ID (3/8"OD) food/beverage grade PVC vinyl tubing to fill up old distilled water jugs on the floor because I go through THAT much distilled water in the winter, and this is easier than using the carafe. Cut tube at slight angle to help you get it on the drip tip. Also, cut it a little longer than you need so you can periodically recut the tip when it stretches out/gets a little too loose. And it will be harder for the cat to knock away from the bottle when she sees the drips start to go down the tube. (Gotta make sure that empty jug is blocked with full jugs!)Energy UseLastly, my version was 750W, and it made about a gallon in about 4hr (with 10-15°C water to start b/c winter). They now have a 1750W version which they say can do the job in 2.5hr. 750W*4hr = 3kWh/gallon vs. 1750W*2.5hr=4.4kWh/gallon. I have old wiring in my home and am not in a rush, so I think I'll go with the lower powered/older version for now because lower energy consumption per gallon. I am not optimistic that they improved the design/quality/protection of the control electronics (i.e., the fail point) when they upped the power. If you find otherwise, I'm very interested to know.11/2023I bought a cheaper 6L version of this by another vendor without a temp gauge or timer. It failed after a week, I returned it, and am glad I bought this version. While I wish it were 6L capacity, I find its additional features are worth the investment. I also wish the pretty red color wasn't so much more expensive than the boring silver color.Common Points in Other Reviews:Glass ReservoirThe glass collection container is nicer than I expected. The glass itself seems sturdy. Assembly of handle was very straightforward and did not require a third hand. (Just overlap the ends of a metal band, slip the rectangular nut underneath, place the handle on top, and press against side of container to hold. The cutout in the handle holds everything together while you put in a screw through the handle. Give it a couple turns with screwdriver to hold it, do the other one, then tighten both. No drama.)This reservoir is superior to the plastic jug from the other model in two ways: 1) It is heavy enough and has a non-skid bottom, so that my cat, who is fascinated by dripping water, can't knock it over when it's mostly empty and make a mess. Bonus, the glass does not amplify the sound of the drops like a drum the way the plastic did, which then gets my cat's attention when then water starts to drip. 2) The plastic lid on the reservoir is large, so you can easily clean inside, (dishwasher???) AND this model does not use a poorly designed cap to funnel in the water. You just position the spout of the still over the open pour end of the lidded reservoir, and get on with your life. No capillary-action based leaks because this part touched that one by mistake or bump.Hopefully I won't bounce the reservoir off the floor and need another one, but if I do, I know I can put some food safe tubing on the output of the still, set the still on the counter, set my favorite reservoir (e.g. old disposable distilled water jug) on the floor and distill directly into it via the tube. Might do that anyway...TimerThis is a critical part of the still such that if you buy a model without a timer, you'll need to provide your own. The reason is that if you don't run the still dry, you don't bake on the residual salt deposits, and they are significantly easier to clean out between runs. I use a splash of white vinegar, let it sit for a min, then wipe it out with a paper towel (minimal rubbing), and rinse. This removes almost everything. I will keep the citric acid cleaner they provide, but I'm not sure I'll need it at this point. The timer is easy enough to set: the set button selects the number, +/- to adjust, and don't touch any buttons when you're done with settings (it will take the hint after about 30 seconds). Not that I could figure that out from the instruction book, which is not well written/translated.Carbon FiltersI'm not using these, but they provide 3.NoiseThink of the sound your computer fan makes when it's processing something really difficult. That's about how loud this fan is. You can hear it, but because it's a steady white noise, it's not intrusive to be in the room with it. If it's in the kitchen and you're not, you might not even know it's on.Temperature Setting/GaugeBecause I'm using this for water for humidifiers and not anything interesting, I'll mostly be using the temperature gauge for two purposes: 1) is it working/heating properly? 2) is it safe to open the lid or am I going to scald myself?ConclusionI'm glad I bought this particular version.
