I have a nervous Nancy yorkie, but surprisingly storms don’t bother her. What does scare her is the beeps on TV when a warning comes across. She is literally climbing up me, hiding behind furniture, running around, never finding a place she is happy. I’ve tried so much in her 7 years of life., even prescriptions. I gave her one of these and she was so chill. It didn’t knock her out and she didn’t seem lethargic. She just didn’t care. She laid in my lap most the time, but got up to eat, drink, perked up when she heard warning beeps or thunder but didn’t jump down and go crazy. She was mostly herself maybe just a litele more chill. 100% recommend!!

I have 3 dogs who are occasionally excitable during storms, fireworks, or just generally no reason lol. I dont use these during the day but the 2 bigger ones get them sometimes at night. Four stars because it gave the little one diarrhea. I dont notice the smell as I dont eat them lol but my dogs accept them right away. Not something I use frequently but it works when needed.

If it works for you it works for you. I'm sure it's a great product. It did, however, make my dog very sick. I wanted to test it through the duration of crate training, However I gave him half of a single one. He woke up at eleven thirty at night, And had diarrhea for about thirty minutes. We took him to a vet hospital just to find out Some treats may not work with certain breeds of dogs. Son might make them ill. I would recommend asking your vet before you give this to your dog. I'm sure it's wonderful for others, This did not work well for us.

* Update *I emailed the company last night and received a reply this morning with a number to call. A very friendly lady answered and completed an adverse reaction form. She said the trance like, glassy eyed, zoned out state should not happen. I am beyond grateful that I only gave my dog half of a chew, I don't want to imagine what a full chew would have done to him. Yikes! I'm awaiting a call from someone else to discuss further. I researched long and hard before purchasing these, who would have thought a couple of vitamins and Colostrum could have caused this reaction. Please be aware and careful with this stuff.______________________________________________Tried this for the first time today. The bag is tiny and the chews are small. It concerns me that one of these "chews" is for dogs under 25 lbs, I wish it was made for 10, or even 15, lbs and under as something made for 25 lbs seems like a lot for tiny dogs. Since my dog is only 6 lbs I only gave him half (plus it was also his first one). He ate it but didn't seem thrilled with the taste. It does have a strong smell (I have very little sense of smell so if I think the smell is strong, it is). About 30 minutes after giving him half he seemed zoned out, like he was in a trance. :( I really did not like that, it actually made me nervous. I know this is to calm him but I didn't expect him to be in a trance like state. I called his name and he didn't even look me (he ALWAYS looks at me when I call his name). When I finally got him to look at me he had a glassy eyed look and seemed zoned out! 😳 About one hour and 15 minutes after giving it to him I took him to the vet (previously scheduled appt, totally unrelated to the chews). He still shook like a leaf in car but the zoned out, glassy eyed, trance like state had improved. There was construction right next door to the vet's office which caused the entire building to vibrate, plus the noise level was very loud. Needless to say, he shook the entire time but, given the circumstances, who could blame him. The side effects from the chew did wear off about 2ish hours after giving it to him. These side effects concern me greatly! I may contact the company regarding this.

These worked for my shih tzu. She is bothered by loud noises on a regular basis. We are still experimenting with giving 1 pill daily then an extra when an event happens or just 2 whenever an event happens. So far pleased with the results.

These were prescribed by my dogs' holistic vet. Both dogs are older and have chronic conditions: the 7-year-old Mini Schnauzer has severe pain at times from kidney stones and stomach issues but doesn't tolerate many medications, and the senior Schipperke has arthritis, neck and back issues from things done to him in a prior home, heart problems, and pulmonary hypertension. He has bouts of congestive heart failure and also has asthma (on top of a collapsing trachea)and the original reason the vet suggested Composure was to help the Schipperke relax during these episodes while we're waiting for his medications to work. As we got that under control she suggested I also use Composure at bedtime; he had been on the streets for a long time and didn't trust humans, and therefore didn't sleep well. This product also helped him sleep, thank goodness, because he has also had severe reactions to medication and couldn't take a sedative because of his heart/lung problems. Also, giving him Composure helps the rest of the house sleep, and the fact they love them is a nice perk!Composure has helped both of them so far for each of their issues. However, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but I wonder if that's more an issue of the dog's condition at that particular time. It also seems to work best for the dog that needed help sleeping; I know dog owners give their dogs Melatonin but I'd rather not add possible medication reactions to their problems until it's absolutely necessary.I would recommend a person try Composure for their pet before giving traditional medications.
