Unlike traditional optical media, which utilize dyes that can break down over time, data stored on an M DISC is engraved on a patented inorganic write layer – it will not fade or deteriorate. This unique engraving process renders these archival grade discs practically impervious to environmental exposure, including light, temperature and humidity. The Verbatim M DISC 4X BDXL is thermal and hub printable, allowing you to create custom disc surfaces and artwork for your discs. Tested for compatibility with leading commercially available thermal printers, the printable surface offers full-surface, edge-to-edge printing.

These very expensive disc were shipped in a bubble mailer. Item was damaged. These disc's were intended for longterm storage but can't use after the bumpy ride they got.

I've read a number of reviews here, and seems a lot of people are having trouble with the software. Hope my experience helps someone out there.*** Mac computers natively record BDXL with no issues ***You don't need any other special software.I use MDISC to archive files from an external hard drive connected via a USB 3.0 dock. It takes about 3 hours for 100GB to record and 2 more hours to verify the disc. I only ruined one, and that was negligence on my part, literally the cable was loose and disc was ejected mid-process.This is the writer I use:LG WH16NS40 Super Multi Blue Internal SATA 16x Blu-ray Disc RewriterWith this adapter cable:UGREEN SATA to USB 3.0 Adapter Cable for 3.5/2.5 Inch SSD HDD SATA III Hard Drive Disk Converter Support UASP Compatible with Samsung Seagate WD SanDisk Hitachi Toshiba, with 12V Power AdapterYou can find a slightly cheaper cable, but it won't have the necessary power requirements. The cost of the writer with the cable is about the same as those slim portable ones, but from what I've read, this big ugly setup performs much more reliably. So far so good.I got a pack of 25x 100GB and also 25x 4.7GB for testing and smaller files. I recommend testing your setup on smaller MDISCS first so it doesn't cost so much if you mess up.

Works well. Too expensive for what they are, but what you going to do if you want a hard copy of your data?
