I got a vcr from goodwill to digitize a bunch of childhood videos. At some point the picture quality dropped horrendously and was glitchy had lines and blocks of pixelation. I got this head cleaner and it restored the picture quality and allowed me to finish digitizing my tapes

Well, it's a VCR Head cleaner, does exactly as advertised. We have 2 working VCR's in our home and we tried on both and did a great job!! Super simple to use: Make sure cassette is rewound, hit play, let it finish, rewind, take out. Easy peasy. The usage record label on the tape is great. 2 down, 48 to go (says you can use up to 50 times). We Recommend!

This cleaning tape made a clear difference for a VCR that was mothballed years ago. Not as much for movies, but family tapes are the reasons I still gave storage space to the clunker. Whether it was the old material in the tapes shedding or dust and oxidation of the magnetic heads in the VCR, this cleaning tape did make the image rendering noticeable better after just one pass.Two things to mention: the noise that the mechanic transport of the tape makes for this cleaning tape is more pronounced than for normal tapes, for some reason. Not sure whether the issue is the cleaning tape, or some limitation of the VCR tape transport mechanism. Second: I am skeptical of the “reusable 50 times” statement. If there is serious gunk this tape carries with it after the first few uses, I would not reuse it a few dozen times more. Or for a real well maintained VCR the prescribed 50 times may be really conservative. I wish there was a way (and there were instructions) to actually evaluate the degree of contamination and wear of the tape, for a more accurate estimate of number of uses. Never the less, this cleaning tape does what it is supposed to, and does it quick and well.

I tried out this cleaner cassette in three of the four VCRs that I own. I honestly couldn’t tell a difference before and after cleaning, nevertheless I understand the importance of cleaning the heads occasionally. I use one of the VCRs to transfer old tapes to my computer so I will probably try running the cleaning cassette again to get the best possible audio and video to archive. For the price, I would recommend this for anyone still using a VCR these days.

Item arrived and wouldn't work. Tape appears to be old, dried glue wouldn't allow tape door to move. Useless gargage!

It's a basic strip that rubs along the heads to clean them. No solutions so it's dry and is mainly to remove dust. I don't know if I would use it 50 times but so far it's been fine.
