This was a replacement hammer for my husband. His favorite hammer was misplaced by son on a camping trip.

A once, old, experienced framer told me, that the 32 oz rigging hammer axe I was using was needless and dangerous. If I continued to use such a heavy hammer with a steel handle, that I would blow out my elbow and shoulder eventually. I listened to the old guy and now, I'm the old guy. If you young framers think your good, then you should be able to drive a nail with 20 oz's of steel, or less. If you think you can't pull out a nail with a wood handle, then you have no business being a framer. The Vaughan 20 oz hammer is the best hammer I've used in 45 years of framing. It has helped keep my elbow from blowing out, and has lasted beyond my expectations on the jobsite. I have found, if you wrap the top of the hammer where the wood goes into the steel with electrical tape, the handle will last 3 times longer. I also put some tape on the end of the handle to give me a better grip. Try it, you will like it.

Let's put it this way, my last 999 Vaughn was bought in 1986, (31 years ago) which pretty much predates Amazon and the internet. It's a well balanced hammer that will serve you for years. If you use wooden handles you know to use a prybar for deep pulls.
