This little tool is designed to help you install your wire into Anderson Pole connectors. With small wire it is not stiff so it is hard to get it to lock in place.

Sometimes the Andersons load without problem just pushing on the cable. The other times you need this guy. It fit in my connector box well.

How to get this tool to work is a bit cryptic if you do not understand what it is actually for. By itself it does not extract the pin from the housing like other types of pin extractors which often close the locking spurs so they will slide out of their mounts. What this one does is reach over the wire and release the flat metal spring inside the housing while you pull the wire and pin out. So it is really a release tool. When installing a pin/wire the tool is simply a push rod that sets the pin into the housing until the spring locks. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, if you are doing a lot of pins this tool can make it easier. This is true because of its shape and how it reaches over the wire to move the spring back. If you have only a few to do, use a little screwdriver or something and save the money. The cost is where this tool looses it. It is just a simple vinyl handle cover over for the most part what is a bent piece of metal. Sure, the bent metal works fine but its only worth about $5 or so. For $15.99 the metal should be far more substantial or if nothing else come with a small case to protect the shaped ends. If those get bent you may as well just use a screwdriver. Its an ok tool and for a lower price I may have given it a higher rating but like many tools like this you pay a premium for the convenience.

Though you can use a small screw driver on these connectors, this tool does make it easier. If you’re doing several of them it’s less hassle.

Not really worth it. Small screwdriver works just as well.

no instructions and not obvious how to use. never did figure it out. totally useless. regular thin narrow bladed screwdriver works well enough.
