The black paint appears to not be integrated into the coating like the silver one. It's like they spray painted over it. The black ones that I ordered with a previous kit I bought are durable and the color doesn't scratch off as easy. I won't be using these in anywhere where it will be easily visible.

clamp material is a little thin does not have a lot of clamp force will have to see how well they work

I purchased these to replace some band clamps on low pressure hose. After the first exercise of the spring the finish started to come off of the clamps. Before I installed them, I exercised them a few times to see if this would continue and it did. Not sure this would be an issue in a protected environment, but I was using them in an outdoor harsh environment. Overall the spring pressure was consistent and strong. I ended up returning as all 3 of the springs that I tested because of the coating falling off.

These clips are high quality, thick steel, and has a very tight hold on the hose line.

If you want to be able to operate these by hand they really need plastic mouldings on the wings. But they don't.

I ordered these hoping that they would have the clamping force as OEM coolant clamps. These clamps are for vacuum or for radiator overflow hose that is not under pressure. I wanted clamps that would take all you had to open them and to slide them over a hose. You can ALMOST put these over a hose with your fingers. Clamps that have THE BEST clamping force are made from CARBON STEEL.

I ordered the 3/4" size clamps to use for my truck. When they arrived it was obvious they were too small. They appear to be 1/2" size. I doubt they would expand enough to fit 3/4" hose without permanently bending them. Furthermore, they are quite thin; far too fragile for automotive use. Returned and bought Hillman brand.
