Product Description

Taps

Information

Taps can be divided into straight flute thread taps, spiral flute thread taps, spiral point thread taps and thread forming taps. They are also divided into hand taps and machine taps according to the usage.

Hand taps are operated by tap wrenches. Machine taps are suggested to be used with tap collets with overload protection, and hand use or electric drills use is easy to cause breakage to the tap.

Metric Hand Taps

Taper /Bottom Tap

Taper Tap: Start the thread and guide it into the workpiece, commonly used when tapping through holes. Bottom Tap: Generate threads close to the bottom of a blind hole.

Straight Flute Tap

Thread tap provides fast downward chip removal for efficient threading, clear threads without burrs, universal square shank.

Uncoated Tap

Uncoated taps provide good cutting performance and can be used for threading a wide range of applications.

9SiCr Alloy Tool Steel

  • Offer excellent hardness, toughness and wear resistance for durability and long-lasting performance.

Wide Applications

The hand tap set is used to re-thread damaged or jammed threads, or to create new threads. Suitable for tapping through or shallow holes in mild steels, aluminum, iron, copper, hard plastic.

The tap set is mainly for hand use, and is used with a tap wrench. Apply appropriate cutting lubricant or oil during the tapping process for higher quality threads and more durable screw taps.

Tips

Ensure proper alignment, use proper tapping technique, and apply consistent pressure as you turn the tap to achieve clean, precise threads. Periodically reverse while tapping to break up chips and remove debris from the flutes, preventing clogging and ensuring smooth operation.

Performed as expected, good overall quality and durability. Created new threads and chases existing threads with precision.

Used this to fix my rear drop out on my mountain bike after I ended up messing up the threads with the 12 mm rear axle bolt. Used a cheap tap handle set from Harbor Freight to rethread the drop out. Saved me a bunch of money in the end

pair of taps: M12x1 standard and bottoming tapsOne tap was OKOn Other Tap the treads were not properly cut the Minimum Diameter sometimes called Root diameter was not full depth on some of the threads of Tap and it ruined an expensive aluminum hydraulic assemblies threads. Yes I should not have used cheap taps on an expensive part.Examining under stereo microscope one can clearly see some of the Taps treads do not have full ROOT depth and wiped the tips off perfectly good threads in the hole I was chasing with tap. Buyer beware more junk with no quality control from ChinaRemember you are the guinea pig and you are their quality control. A bad deal

I've used the die on 1/2" rods from Lowe's and it works great. Haven't tried the tap yet. This is the same thread that are on the inexpensive 3 & 4-jaw mini lathe chucks.

It worked well. The thread cutters had burs when received, but cleaned off easily with a wire brush. Cost effective.

Great Tap. Grabs the material and makes great threads. I hand threaded a soft brass replica of a vintage coin for a guitar switch cover plate nut and it went perfectly. I made the drill size for 80% threads and, hand tapping using 16th turn forward, one half turn back cuttings, this big tap worked perfectly.

Taps arrived still dirty from being machined, and there were heavy burrs between the teeth. Fortunately with two of them you can use one to break the burrs out from the other, but they should have been better. And maybe after the first use the rest of the burrs will break out. Still, they should work okay for the lock cylinders I will be installing in the holes I tap with them. (I'll update if they don't).

Seems like decent quality. Had no issues at all tapping 3/8" thick mild steel. Sort of an off size so rounded off my tap set nicely.
