  • Spiral Point Tap: M6 x 1.0 thread with H2 tolerance, JIS standard, right hand thread cutting. Straight flutes taps provide provide downward chip removal, with clear threads and sharp cutting edges.
  • Material & Finish: 6542 high speed steel metric taps run at high speeds and generate threads quickly and efficiently, offering high hardness (HRC62-64), wear resistance, and good toughness. TICN coating for improving wear resistance, hardness, heat resistance, lubricity.
  • Applications: Thread taps are great for through-hole threads. Can be used for drilling and tapping stainless steel, aluminum, alloy steel, ordinary steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, hard plastics, etc. Flutes on the screw tap help to remove chips and debris from the hole.
  • How to Use: Suitable for drill presses, tapping machines, CNC and milling machines. Used with tapping oil to get higher quality threads and more durable taps. The point of the tap helps guide it into the hole and reduces the torque required to turn it.
  • Warm Tips: Machine taps are suggested to be used with tap chucks with overload protection. It is not recommended for hand use and electric drill tapping. Micro taps (such as M1-M3.5) are mainly used for clocks, watches, low-hardness woods, and soft metals.

Product Description

Product Introduce

  • Spiral point taps are also called screw-point taps, suitable for processing through-hole threads and deep-hole threads. Featured with high strength, fast cutting speed, clear tooth pattern and long life.
  • Spiral point tap is a deformation of the straight flute tap. The cutting edge of the straight flute is slanted to form an angle, and the chips are discharged forward along the direction of feed. The through-hole threads should be preferentially drilling by spiral point taps.
  • Made of high speed steel (HSS), threading tool is good for general purpose applications, offering high hardness, toughness and wear resistance.

Round Shank with Square End

  • Universal square shank is strong and durable.
  • Can be used with a wide variety of tool holding systems.

Spiral Point Threading Taps

  • The taps have clear threads and sharp cutting edge by automatic fine grinding process.
  • Featured with straight flutes, high cutting edge strength, and easy to re-grind.
  • The special core design is relatively large and can bear cutting force for high strength.
  • Suitable for through-hole threads.
  • Chips remove forward when spiral point tap working, reducing loading and clogging in the flutes.

  • Used on drill presses, tapping machines, automatic machine tools, machining centers, CNC and milling machines.

GENERAL SELECTION BASIS

Warm Tips

  • Use with tapping oil to get higher quality thread and more durable taps. It is easy to cause damage for uneven force if the machine taps are used by hand.
  • When selecting the cutting speed, please consider the tap material, type, thread teeth, hole shape, effective diameter of the bottom hole, processing material and cutting oil .
  • Cutting oil is lubrication, cooling and anti-sticking. Be sure to select the appropriate cutting oil for complex tapping process.

I broke a tap and got this one as a replacement. I'm sure my old tap was getting a little dull, but it was night and day when using this one. Hardly any resistance at the handle and handled chip accumulation really well without packing the flutes. So far, I've threaded cast iron and cold roll steel and both were slick.

used other bits and it was always a pain cutting into mild steel. this bit made quick work of the steel and came out very nice and sharp. I was confused of I tightened it or not because of how smooth it was cutting. use lubricants and you are golden with this bit.

Not good for cutting 304 stainless steel. I drilled oversize (5.5 mm) and used plenty of stainless steel specific cutting fluid (AnchorLube). It just would not cut more than a few turns. My old used worn out Mastercraft tap cuts better. On top of all that the TiCN coating wore off after the first cut. The taps I got look like they are black oxide coated HSS, not what was described in the listing.

I usually do not do reviews, but after 2different brands, this one was awesome. I ordered M4x0.7 working with stainless steel. It cuts like a butter. And what’s most important the size is spot on, other brands i ordered were not perfectly matching with M4x0.7 screws.

These taps are much better quality than standard Chinese taps, so I like them. However they are definitely not a replacement for American steel if you are using them a ton.

I purchased these to clean up threads after drilling out a screw. I had to chew out the old leftover bits of the hardened screw as I went. No issues with cut or durability. Obviously small taps can all break fairly easily. I just went slow and easy until it was done. I'm sure the one I used could be used again, and the other is still new. Wouldn't hesitate to buy the same brand again.
