In addition to using it for emergency signaling, it’s handy for personal grooming as well. The virtually unbreakable Micro Mirror also features a lanyard hole for convenient attachment to gear, and it works even in overcast conditions or at night with moonlight or other light sources. 1 – Stand facing the sun or other light source in an open area with a clear view of the sky and, if possible, the horizon 2 – Reflect light from the light source onto your hand or other nearby surface making sure to not block the light from the light source to the mirror surface. 3 – Slowly bring the mirror toward your eye until the mirror touches your cheek. Look through the star at the reflected light on your hand (or other surface). A bright glowing spot will show in the star. This is the aim indicator. 4 – Holding the mirror close to your eye, and still looking at the aim indicator, slowly turn and angle the mirror until you “place” the aim indicator directly on the object you wish to flash. If no target is in sight, continually sweep the horizon. NOTE: The StarFlash Micro is NOT a floating mirror.

I was surprised when it arrived how small it was. It wasn't much bigger than a quarter. I thought the mirror was smudged and scratched but then I realized there is a plastic peel-off layer and then underneath is a very shiny mirror. It is very reflective and I'm sure would work to signal and get someone's attention in a survival situation. I'm only rating it 4 stars because of the misleading picture of it in the woman's fingers. She must have tiny fingers! I would have known if I looked at the dimensions in the description and the photos in the review. For the price, I thought they could make it 3" x 2".

Purchased for my son to use in his outdoor/wilderness survival kit, for camping with his Boy Scout Troop. He needed to create a small survival kit to carry during a backpacking trip, and this signal mirror was the perfect size (small) and weight (light) for his backpacking kit.

Este espejo para señalar de UST es uno de los mejores productos de la marca. Sugiero que se cubra la superficie reflectaste para que no se dañe y en caso de usarse funcione de la mejor manera posible. Tiene la mirilla de buen tamaño y aunque es "micro" el espejo puede reflejar bastante bien la luz solar o artificial. Este espejo para señalar es compacto y potente, altamente recomendable.

These are great. They are smaller than standard, I’d say about half the size. If I end up like Gilligan and try to signal a passing aircraft with it, I’ll send you a message in a bottle with an update on how it worked.
