Doesn't work for either my 27" Apple thunderbolt display from my macbook pro, or for connecting my thunderbolt HDD dock to my Mac studio. I knew it was too cheap to actually work. Guess I'm back to the $50 apple connector.

I have an older Apple Cinema Display from 2011 that has Mini DisplayPort. This adapter allows me to cheaply and easily connect the display to my 2023 MacBook Pro. So far it has worked flawlessly. Since my initial purchase and testing, I've added a Thunderbolt dock to my desk setup and it works well with that too. To clarify, that's Macbook Pro > Thunderbolt dock > USB-C to Mini DisplayPort Adapter > Apple Cinema Display with no hiccups. A simple, affordable option.

I hope this review helps someone in my position. I've had this old 27" iMac for years. I think it's a 2011, and the hardware just doesn't hold up anymore, but the screen is a 2K screen, and it's massive. I've always wanted to just use it as a second monitor. I purchased an HDMI to MiniDisplayPort cable a few years ago, and it didn't work, so I thought all hope was lost. I did purchase a MiniDisplayPort to MiniDisplayPort cable before that for my 15" MacBook Pro (which also has a MiniDisplayPort out on it), and it worked perfectly, but I couldn't get the HDMI to MiniDisplayPort connection to work. Since then, I have a new iPad and a work MacBook Air with only USB-C ports. I thought, maybe this adapter could work and took a chance, and sure enough, the iPad and MacBook connected perfectly. I'm so glad I kept this iMac around after it was sitting around and taking up space. I was about ready to part ways with it, but now I think I'll be keeping it around for a little while longer.Just a heads up though about Target Display Mode: you won't be able to change the brightness of the iMac with your plugged-in devices. You'll have to have a keyboard connected; otherwise, it will be at whatever brightness it's set to when you plug in. So glad I found the adapter.

I own and use a 24 inch Apple LED Cinema Display monitor from 201? I seriously forgot how old this monitor is. But it has survived thanks to modern technology and it is now on its 3rd laptop of life. I use my laptop and iPad mostly everywhere I go but when I am in my home office I can plug into this monitor that keeps stayin alive thanks to this adaptor. Image is crystal clear from my 2024 MacBook Pro into my monitor and I can continue editing on newer technology while still utilizing an investment from many years ago. Awesome purchase!

As we all know Apple constantly upgrades their devices. With upgrades comes an entire new port type on your device that might not work with your old equipment. I'd been using an older Apple Cinema Display. It worked great, however the new Macbook Pro M3 pro does not have any Mini Display ports. I searched Amazon and finally found one to I was hoping would work without causing heat or damage. This is a perfect match with my Apple Cinema Display and 2023 MBP. While the adapter doesn't plug in all the way, it does NOT heat up or cause any issues. I've been able to utilize all features of the Apple Cinema Display. The adapter female end meets the Mini Display port about half way in. No heat. No spark. No issues. I am a happy customer! I highly recommend this product!

Nice dongle, works well. I usually use it with one of those old Apple LCD monitors and primarily use it for work. The dongle is plug and play with no issues. The dongle itself also feels well built. I carry it with me everywhere and rattles around in my bag and still always works every time. Only reason I mention I wish i didnt have it is because I wish there was just a mini display port on my macbook. But really this is the next best thing. Overall purchase with confidence, great dongle with exactly as expected functionality and with good durability.

I was hoping to go cheaper than the Apple adapter #A1790 ($50 new). Nope. Just because the Apple Thunderbolt 2 Display video connector LOOKS like this MiniDP, it's not compatible. I should have read this cable manufacturer's honest description - it's right there in black in white. Other reviewers say this works fine with the pre 2011 Apple Cinema display. I'll take their word for it, but believe me, it does NOT work with the similar-looking but slightly newer Apple Thunderbolt2 Display (2011).

Works great at 2K 144Hz which is my primary resolution. Plug and play between my LG monitor and graphics card, nothing much more to say.Build quality is superb. I feel like braided cables like this one should really be standard, doesn't matter if it's USB, HDMI, whatever. Having a braided cable just increases its longevity and prevents it from being a twisted up mangled mess like regular plastic sleeved cables. I also dig the fact that this cable has a built in velcro loop to keep it wrapped up when you're not using it. Not anticipating that I'll unplug this cable very often given it's attached to my computer but a nice appreciated touch nevertheless from cable manufacturers like this one to include it. It's just annoying to lose twist ties or velcro ties that aren't attached to the cable itself later on.
