Bought 3 of these. They’re great except on of them leaks. Hopeful the seller sees this and replaces it.

Filling with sand is somewhat time consuming, but it is much easier than I worried that it would be, having read the other reviews. I was able to fill it most of the way with one 50lb bag of “play sand”, purchased from a hardware store. After filling with sand I was able to fit an additional 4 gallons of water, which added about 33lbs, so the total weight of the fill material is a few pounds over 80lbs. The process of filling took less than an hour. My mom helped the home time because I needed her to hold the funnel. The funnel was purchased from the automotive section of the hardware store, and the end of the funnel is just a touch unde 1 inch in diameter, which is a perfect size. The fill hole plug is made of the same material as the container, but it may be a little bit thinner, and it is softer than may be hoped. It is a good size for the hole, but the inner rim of the plug was bent and distorted by the forcible action that was required to get it into the hole. You need to be careful when doing this to avoid damaging it.Another drawback of the weakness of the plugs rim is that if you ever want to remove it, that will probably be impossible because it is likely to fall apart if you try. This may be fine for most people, but we live in an extremely dry place, which means that over time, even though the plug is very snug in the hole, the water we use to weigh it down will eventually dry out. That’s clearly a problem because when it dries, the base will be 30lbs lighter, and will be less stable and less safe.I may buy this base again, but only because I wouldn’t know how to find one that has a removable fill plug.Other reviews have started that the fill hole needs to be widened in order to get the plug in, but I think that is not the case and is likely inadvisable because if the plug isn’t snug then the water inside will evaporate even faster. It’s difficult to know what the best solution is, but finding one with a removable fill hole plug might be the best way to go.Otherwise I think the product is very high quality, and the functionality and safety in the breezy place that we need it for is far batter than what we have been able to find up until now. I recommend this product.

Be aware that this umbrella base is a substantial size. Looks great, love the white color which is hard to find, and it will be perfect for us under windy conditions but know that it is perhaps more of a commercial size than the residential size you might be used to.

Accommodates our 12', heavy-duty Jeary umbrella.Well-constructed, sturdy.Small fill opening, however...that needs to be improved. For now, we have the base filled with water, and that seems to work just fine. Also, the cap for the fill hole did not fit, and we had to trim a good amount of the insert portion away in order to get it to work. Another recommended improvement to make.Overall, this base is great! Larger than others.

This was so easy to put together and accommodates my 7 foot patio umbrella. To give it weight I filled it with water instead of sand. I had a question about the product and customer service answered the call right away and gave me the info I needed. Ps I was told not to use water for the weight if it could freeze. I'm in Florida so it's not an issue.

I purchased a high-end patio umbrella that did not come with a stand. The pole is a bit larger than discount store umbrellas and I had to do a bit of searching to find this one. It works. We had the umbrella opened all Summer through storms and mild wins and the stand never moved. The challenge came when a tornado visited the neighborhood. I lowered the umbrella and, despite all of the damaged trees and roofs nearby the stand, once again stood the strain. I’ll be draining it soon for the Winter but look forward to filling it again come Spring. Highly recommended.

I used a funnel to fill my umbrella stand with play sand. Patience is definitely needed. It took about an hour to fill it! We have a flagstone patio and we find it fairly easy to move the stand around, once we remove the umbrella (to make it lighter).

Lower profile than most with this weight. Easy to install. Highly recommend. Only down size is the hole to add the sand is pretty small. Ended up using an car oil funnel but it still got clogged. Just took much longer to fill than needed. Larger hole would solve easily. Still giving a t because ofnthe sleek look and ability to stand even during high winds/monsoons.
