Worked reliably in an experimental ventilator system prototype. Would not use it if duty cycle requires long continuous on time (possible heating of coil) or extremely low pressure drop. It is a direct acting solenoid valve that has no minimum pressure to actuate (as in pilot operated valves with larger orifices) and so has a rather small orifice resulting in on-time pressure drop that is not insignificant. This is a problem only in the few cases where the operating pressure is low compared to the maximum rated pressure for the valve.

These are crap. Why can't anyone make a solenoid that just works. Out of the 10 I bought for a university research project 3 leaked after just two days of light use (On for 7 seconds each hour). I am using 5psi of pressure and these are rated to 101psi. I backed it down to 1psi and they couldn't even hold that! The other 6 are working for now but with every passing day they start to degrade. The solenoid has a spring that covers a small internal hole that looks to be 1/16 of an inch in diameter. The spring that seals it generates 1/3 of a lbs of pressure to keep the hole stopped. Yes, someone passed math class, that is exactly the spring you need to justify the 101psi rating, good job. Come one though, there is not going to be a perfect seal. This is the real world not a physics problem. I upgraded it to a 1.5lb spring and now they work. Really! I know what spring to put in better than you do! Do you want the tech specs of the spring? I’ll send them to you. This set of awful leaking low quality solenoids caused me another time delay in my PHD project. Some of the screws where striped inside the mechanism and someone even forgot a washer on one of them. WOW

Pretty much what I expected, given that my application was for operation at very low pressures. Guess I expected the valve to have a little greater volumetric flow rate when open, but it is adequate. Apparently the solenoid valve's orifice is rather small, such that the back pressure in the line is about 10 psi greater with the valve installed than without it. I need the solenoid valve to stop the flow of herbicide through my spray rig when its pump is stopped. Without the solenoid valve fluid would drain through the pump head and dribble out of the spray nozzle onto the ground. The hydraulic head is about 12 to 18 inches, so not a lot of pressure when the pump is turned off. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the 1/4" pipe thread didn't tighten as snugly as I thought it should and I had to apply several wraps of Teflon tape and wrench my pipe nipple and tubing adapter all the way down flush with the valve body, but no leaks at 50 psi so it works!

worked good at first but then started leaking and just got worst. replace them with the same and now I am replacing those again. I guess I need to find another brand.

I really like this valve. It is well made, positive on off operation. 1/4in pipe threads are tight sealing. I use it to control my spray bar on our atv for spraying weeds. I recommend it to others. Note: Do not over tighten the fittings that you screw into it. You could crack it if you get carried away. It is built well but still any female threaded fitting is prone to cracking if over tightened. I hate it is not USA made. They try to fool you I think with the name!!

I've used two of these in a DIY lift/dump system (less than 100psi) for my Handy bike lift. I'm running them from a 12V 1a power supply used to power some sort of electrical device I had lying around. They fit 1/4NPT pipe and fittings. I typically hold them open for no more than 1 minute at time and they have performed as advertised. Be careful when tightening as I have read some buyers have cracked theirs due to pipe having tapered threads. I had no problems and the install was great.

Barely got the fittings tight and the plastic housing cracked. But it's still working great!Edit: 7/2/2015 I was sent two replacement valves and installed them with no issues. The ones I replaced must have been a weak casting. Kudos to U.S. Solid for making this good. I will admit this: Even with the plastic housing cracked the old valves were still leak free!! I am super impressed!

The valve worked well for a few weeks, then crapped out I me. I used it for an air ride suspension setup on my harley. It went out not even 2 months after installation. Luckily I had ordered a different valve from a different company so I was able to switch them out. I wasn't sure what to expect with this, but I thought for dang sure it would last more than 6 weeks. You definately get what you pay for with this product.
