it's a basic kit that helps keep the chemicals (pH & Chlorine) in your pool adjusted properly. it also saves you money but not having to hire anyone to take care of your pool.

The secret to using these kinds of kits is leave a tiny air bubble under the cap in the tube. Then when you invert the test kit and then back to right side up, the air bubble moves back and forth to mix the droplets instead of shaking which they tell you not to do.

This product is reasonably priced and is accurate enough for daily testing. I compared it my monthly testing titration kit which covers a lot more and find them very close in accuracy. This kit works best if you follow the standard testing procedures by using drops only from inverted bottles which assures uniform drop size and facing North when reading the results. I have found that different bottle angles and reading using different lighting makes the results much more questionable.

the first time I used this product I gave it a one star review because i could not get a correct PH reading - i was wrong, i wasn’t adding enough muriatic acid to my pool. Now, this is the only product that i use and find most “test strips” to be hard to read and wordless in my hands.

I've read all the other reviews and am hoping to clarify a few things. When I first got the kit I was using Frog @ease SmartChlor Cartridge:1,3-dicholoro-5, 5-Dimethylhydantoin: 81.1%, 1,3-dichloro-5-ethyl-5-methylydantoin: 16.1%When I would test the water the chlorine indicator would turn yellow and the pH indicator pink/red. I do agree the chlorine is hard to read.At 4 months, I drained and refilled the hot tub and added liquid chlorine to get it started. Again the indicators changed to yellow and pink/red respectively.I then added a floater with spa essentials brominating tablets: 1-bromo-3-chloro-5,5-dimethylhydantoin. After a day or two of the bromine tablets being in the pool, the chlorine indicator now turns orange and the ph indicator turns purple. Not a single review I have read for this product lists what chemicals they are using nor does the product description explain when chemicals it will and will not test for accurately.I give this product a solid 3 for this reason. It could be working absolutely perfectly I you're using dichlor or chlorine liquid but not work at all if you're using something else. The company needs to specify.

I had been using the Taylor products for years. But, I've begun having problems with their readings. With the K1000 I'd get a good ph reading, but a crazy color, some dark red, for chlorine. With the K2000 I'd get a good chlorine reading, but a crazy color for ph. So I've been using one for chlorine and the other for ph. So, I thought I'd try another company. Their single chem for chlorine/bromine seemed good and the price was a bit lower. But, the results were disappointing. On the chlorine/bromine I get a dark yellow which could mean I have a chlorine count around 10ppm, which is off the scale of this product. The ph reading is OK, showing about 7.4, which agrees with the Taylor K1000. So, I guess its back to the two Taylor products to the get my measurements. This product is not working. Unfortunately, it can't be returned and there is no 800 number to call for help. Bad.As pointed out by other reviewers, the bottles are hard to press in and the chlorine scale doesn't go beyond 5ppm.
