How to use the griddle first ?

  1. Wash the griddle before use it. Wash it in warm and soapy water, then remove all soap residue and dry completely with a soft towel.
  2. Oiling the griddle. After drying the griddle, cooking the griddle first, than pour a little oil on the griddle surface, and brush over the entire surface of the griddle.
  3. Cooking the griddle. Keep cooking the griddle for a while. Then let the griddle cool and repeat step 2 and step 3 a few times to get a non-stick surface.

Most of the bad reviews on this product come from people who did not OR did not know how to season this griddle. It's cast iron. The Internet will show you what to do to make it non-stick. Do not use it straight out of the box. Season it properly. Cook with it. Light soap and water. Yes it's heavier, but again - It's cast iron. Once you know and appreciate how cast iron works, this will be the last time you worry about the griddle for this stove. If you keep using the one it came with, it will get destroyed in a year. Maybe this improvement isn't for everyone, but I appreciate and love the fact it's even available. Thank you.

Fits perfectly, so that is good. However, it did not come with instructions to preseason, so i just went through a preseason I've done with other cast irons. First I tried directly on the stove with the oil but it was only doing the middle, so then I moved it to the oven and baked it 3 times. Well, it's now not usable. It's sticky and looks old. I tried cooking on it and everything sticks. Just wasted so much money. So disappointed.

If I could rank this griddle no stars I would....Since the griddle didn't come with break in instructions I used the instructions of a griddle like the one I bought that was in the description in Amazon. Lightly oil griddle and turn on a low heat for 2 minutes. Do this 3x. I did exactly that and now the griddle has a heat ring in the center of the griddle mirroring the heat unit under it. It looks like I have used the griddle for years and I haven't even used it to cook on yet! I am very leary of the rough coating on the griddle too. I will be sending this griddle back.

Bought this to replace the nasty Teflon coated griddle that came with our stove. Not too heavy and fit perfectly. Love cooking on it. Definitely recommend buying.

This fit my GE range perfectly. I was disappointed in the Teflon coated aluminum griddle that was included when I purchased the stove and scratched it on the very first use. This cast iron replacement was just what I was looking for. It appears to have been cast from the original aluminum griddle so it fits well.There are a few very small divots or pits in the cooking surface, which seemed to have been 'repaired' with some kind of epoxy-like substance, which I didn't understand. I scraped these areas clean and then put the griddle through the cleaning cycle in the oven. It came out clear of oils and whatever else comes from the factory, and was ready to be seasoned.I'm very happy with this griddle and after six cycles of seasoning with flax oil, I find it to be better at non-stick than the gouged up Teflon one it replaced. I would recommend this griddle.
