We have an event room at our restaurant and we hold birthday parties, concerts, and many other different celebrations. This is a perfect all in one light to get the party started. It has so many different choices. I don’t think I’ve got to try them all out yet. I am thinking of getting one or two more as the event room is very large. You’ll be very happy with this item. It is built with quality and functionality!

I cannot figure out the sound activated option (without the remote)... doc is poor but product is great. Lots of flexibility ... just needs tinkering if you do not want to use remote.

The lights are very bright and produce fun and effective lighting for whatever purpose, whether it's a small gathering or for creator purposes etc. It provides a an element of fun and excitement for something like a webcam stream for example. Because it has DMX you could hook it up with a DMX controller that works via USB (that's what I did), and then trigger it with special software or apps that use DMX or MIDI for control and when someone subscribes for example during a stream, you can trigger the lighting effects (and specify exactly what effect/lights you want thanks to the DMX, which the book details all the various settings and their assigned control numbers) while a soundboard sound goes off to celebrate for example. I like this light because it has a lot of bang for your buck in a small one piece unit. The DMX control. strobes and UV lights and the other lights all in one, and it is quiet as well as being fairly light, making hanging or mounting a breeze. The sound activated mode works fine but needs a little loud of a source to trigger properly, even better with strong bass. In fog it looks great. I think if you want a variety of effect and lighting source and need basic DMX for control, this will work well for you. If you want to use this for a party or are a DJ looking to add more lighting to your setup, this also works well as it is light and fairly compact while delivering an array of effectgs. I didn't measure the power draw but it seems pretty efficient and doesn't get hot at all even after long periods of continuous use.

Great portable light set for any party setting. I got it for small family get together. This really helps in creating the ambience and enhances the spirit as though one is at a big nightclub! The laser lights are punchy and extremely targeted. The LED also is quite bright. The unit is very solidly constructed. This feels quite sturdy. The only disappointment is regarding colors customizations and that there could have been additional laser design options. But for the size it is quite impressive.

If you want a set of lights to use occasionally at a childs' party, this is good. If you are thinking of using this at all semi-professionally, you may be disappointed.Build: It's a very small unit and the build quality is average.Lasers: Not nearly as impressive as the ad copy would have you believe. Not very flexible, just a motor that spins through the same pattern over and over. The Red is only straight lines of lights that rotate. Blue and Green have a lot more going on, but then it's a bit over the top. It all comes across a little on the cheesy side. The fan noise is a bit loud in a quiet room for such a small unit, but wouldn't matter with music and the noise of a party.LED/UV: These wash lights are probably the best parts of the unit, however they aren't very powerful. Very underwhelming if you want to use them in a room larger than 20' x 20'Remote: The remote is pretty nice. You can access practically every function. Note that you have to point the remote at the front (lighted) side of the device. If you are standing behind the device, the remote won't work.DMX: DMX control was very nice. Everything worked as advertised. There was only a very slight lag time in response to commands.

I've bought and/or reviewed a few of these, used for volunteer DJ events.The unit seems decently made (though it does seem to have something loose, sounds like the size of a "red hot" if you know what those are -- and it seems this is not affecting operation).I think these are most useful when you know what lighting you want and get something that does a good job providing that. Like some of my other units, this has a pair of three different colored lasers (red, blue, green) for six total. These project a range of designs and shapes, though I don't see a lot of variation as I step through the different programs using buttons on the back of the unit. Note, you have to press the up or down button to get the number of the program and THEN, press enter to activate the new program.So the basics of this light are the lasers provide the galaxy-like light points along with a few shape designs (I like the music notes), that more or less randomly pulse on and off and change. The most important controls are the motion speed controls and I think slower is more impactful.The LED lights provide a few colors, white lights the place up, but I think I'd use the UV/black lights the most of the LEDs as they provide a glowing effect on certain clothing, teeth, eyes, etc. without being overly bright.Of course, adding in a fog machine will enhance any lighting, so adding in one of those will make all these lights stand out more. However, be sure to check your venue for permission.Overall, this is a nice addition to your light kit, primarily if you want more lasers, secondarily if you want something that changes the color of the atmosphere, without having to add a number of "wash" lights.So, good lasers, decent build, some flexibility -- four stars.
