Works well. 3 below zero - bird bath did not freeze. Still working. It's a bit tricky with the thick electric cord in the cold weather to keep the heater down in the bird bath but a zip tie through the holes around the edge of this particular type of bird bath did help. Birds are very happy.

These are great. They have an automatic shut off when the temp gets to high so as to not scald the birds. They also have an automatic shut off if no water is present. The pictures are taken at -4 degree's, -22 degree's windchill. One is a little more protected from the wind then the other. I have these two and my mother has one. Her's is open to the north wind and even in the lowest wind chill, it always keep an opening directly above it.I spend all summer feeding the songbirds and if you have water for them, they tend to stick around all year long.

Love this bird bath heater. Works as advertised — heats when it gets below freezing. The birds just love it. One little guy took a mini bath in the middle of winter — he looked refreshed! You do have to make sure to fill the birdbath daily as the heater evaporates quite a bit of water. It does get a bit slimy if you don’t keep up with the water. Not a big deal.

I bought one of these several years ago and it worked fine for quite a while. This year I've ordered two replacements and neither one worked. A different heater on the same circuit is working perfectly.

This is a great product. It operates as advertised. Prior to ordering this the bath froze solid every night when temps were below 32F. It has not frozen once since not even any visible ice. Our lowest temps have been in the mid teens so I can't speak for areas with lower temps. It cycles on and off as stated, the water does not get hot. For reference my birdbath has 16 inch inside diameter. The cord is short so I use an outdoor extension cord, not a big deal. I just rinse it off when I change the water so it's easy care. The price is really reasonable too. I wish I had known about this heater sooner.

Great birth bath de-icer. Small and has been working. I read in another review that the water evaporated faster and that is true. Keep an eye on the water level. It has gone down into the low 20's at night and no ice. Been using a week. If anything changes, will repost.

Also stays on the bottom of the bath. Well made. We're happy with it so far.
