This product is fantastic in helping birds' feather-picking. HOWEVER, it does not contain the standard 4 oz. that the Unruffled site offers; this one is only 3 oz. Just be aware of that as I swear I read in the Amazon description that it was 4 oz. A lot of mone to pay for one less ounce.

Good product however the expiration date is short probably just this batch itself that i received. Hopefully finish before the date itself. Waiting for the featherup to be stocked up so that i can purchase that again.

This is wonderful and I'm sorry that I didn't try it before! I have bought from this company before, and they're aloe spray is great. But I forgot about the calming formula until I just happened to read about it on on FB bird page. I read the reviews here and was so surprised that both of my goffins did not scream for half of the day after I put this in their water! I don't think they would eat it if I put it on their food, but although they look suspicious when I put it in their water, they must drink it later in the day! Now I'm giving it to the Amazons also, when we're gone for the day or they might be stressed for some reason. Maybe having their claws trimmed or whatever. I think people who didn't see a difference maybe need to try it in the water or hold off for a couple of weeks and then try it again. Birds sometimes need to get used to something different and new and this is a survival response to protect them. I have also had birds that didn't like a certain food and then when I tried it since months later they ate a little bit and discovered that they liked it!

I bought this & stopped using it because not only was it not working, but it seemed to be possibly causing polyuria in one of my birds (I was supplementing 2 birds-did not work for either). I researched about Maltodextrin, which is the other ingredient in this product & after speaking to my avian specialist vet it is NOT something anyone should be giving to their birds! Maltodextrin is worse than regular table sugar as far as causing insulin spikes & is highly inflammatory & causes GI inflammation in animals & humans. Why this is used as the base for this product is beyond me! My vet always recommends low sugar/low carb diets for parrots that especially have skin & feather issues, stress, etc. due to the inflammatory issues with sugar. Limited high sugar fruits & high carb like sweet potatoes, corn, etc., because high carb converts to sugar. For those who want to try supplementing with L-Theanine, you are better off puchasing it in pure powder form with no fillers, no GMO, no gluten, etc., which can be found on here. I have already made Amazon customer service aware of the issue of this ingredient & I hope that they will choose not to sell this product. Per my avian vet: cut down on sugar in the bird's diet if they are undergoing stress (ie. plucking, screaming, agitation, molting, hormones, fear, allergies, skin issues, etc.) because you will just exacerbate the problem by adding more internal inflammation with sugar & causing blood sugar levels to spike.

First I would like to say I don't sprinkle this on top of my parrots food. I recently adopted a Catalina Macaw and with the vets OK, I started her on this calming supplement and their other product, feather growth supplement. She is the absolute pickiest eater I have ever come across. I literally have to spend 30 or so minutes every morning spoon feeding her the blend I will talk about below...There's no way I could get away with coating her food with something like this. So I used a blend of high quality baby food that contains veggies and fruit and mashed up a bit of banana then stirred this supplement in. I would love to be able to avoid fruit completely, but this bird came from a home where her diet was fruits, nuts, seeds and colored pellets. So having switched her to eating a blend of veggies & fruit and getting her on a dye free, more natural pellet is a win I will gladly accept.I noticed an improvement in her attitude on the first day I was able to get her to eat the proper dosage. She was so calm, no more neurotic feather tugging and she instead turned to her large selection of toys and just over all had a much more calm demeanor. She sought my attention more and has seemed much more accepting of a scritch here and there.I highly recommend this product and if you have a plucker, give their feather growth supplement a try as well.
