Murphy's Law - as soon as you place an order, you see identical item advertized elsewhere $45.00 cheaper. The three-page pamphlet, obviosly written in China, refers to a red needle (the shipped barometer has a silver needle). The pages make absolutely no mention of how to calibrate the instrument - the barometer reading was nowhere near the barometric air pressure posted by a local weather station. The "wooden base" is actually veneered chipboard and weighs almost as much as the barometer, the brass enclosure is perfectly adequate, so discarding the base could have substantially reduced shipping costs.

Looks good but instructions are garbled. As a physicist, I'm appalled that United Scientific Supplies would issue such an incomplete and, in some cases, inaccurate instruction set. One set of instructions included was for a 'weather station' that's obviously not this instrument. True science requires honesty and accuracy. Not sure whether I'll keep this or not. Will compare accuracy with other standards.

They put a "made in Germany barometer" as advertisement. In reality you get a "made in China barometer". What a scam!

What I received isn’t exactly what was shown in the photo. I have to tap barometer to make it work. Dial doesn’t work on it’s own. The readings are accurate.

It stays in one place on Fair. The thing is I live in Minnesota and the weather is not always Fair. I returned it. I think i receiver a bad one.
