It is compact enough to slide comfortably into a BC pocket and has a bright center spot to light up dark spaces under any type of diving condition. Now, UK is introducing the updated and enhanced Mark 2 version of the SL4. For the first time, we are using a digital controller to take maximum advantage of all four C-size batteries. The SL4 Mark 2 boasts an eye-watering 600 lumens of brightness while retaining all the great qualities that made it the most popular dive light in history.

Needed to replace a lost u/w flashlight, and thought I'd match my remaining light with the same product due to familiarity and reputation.Let me just say, "This is not your 'old' SL4e light!"In comparing this product with my older SL4e (LED) flashlight, this one is probably 5x brighter compared side by side, which can be a benefit or detriment. Personally, I don't care for my new light because the center of the beam on this light is JUST TOO BRIGHT and not only blinds whatever I am illuminating during night dives but also causes glare blindness in me. Even the secondary or indirect portion of the light beam is 'hot'.Don't get me wrong: This is an impressive light and I'm sure it will live up to its predecessor(s), but I will be looking for a different product for general diving use soon.

I have the black model of this torch and am using it for snorkeling in the mangroves. What a difference it makes in finding 2mm long nudibranchs and exploring dark areas underwater! This month I have used it for about 8 hours and the batteries are still going strong. When I first bought it years ago it arrived dead, but was replaced and still works now.

I used it for one dive and water got in the flashlight. I believe it came with a broken seal or o-ring.Too bad.
