My 18-year old dog has been losing weight, like most very old dogs do, but doesn't have the appetite to try to combat his weight loss. Feeding him more either leads to vomiting or him ignoring the extra portion. I mixed two scoops of this powder, added water to make a slurry, and added into his shredded chicken for him this morning and he licked the bowl clean immediately.

This Under the Weather Ready Cal high calorie topper is an excellent addition for a dog who is underweight and/or undernourished. Manufactured in the USA without artificial flavors or dyes, it's first ingredient is chicken meal and it's loaded with vitamins and minerals.

I have used this brand before, except in the paste form. I always go through the paste so fast, so decided to try the powder form instead. My elderly dog doesn’t seem to mind the powder on the food, but I also have to add pumpkin powder or she has runny stools. I am using it because she really doesn’t eater enough food to keep weight on no matter how much food I give her or how often I give her. I haven’t noticed a difference in added weight yet, but hoping to as it seems to be making her eat more of her food instead of leaving it sit so it must be tasty. It is easy to use and comes with a scoop. The smell is not off putting and has the extra nutrients I was looking for to supplement her food. The only thing I don’t like is that some of it sticks to the bottom of her food dish and I have to soak and scrub her dish after she eats. However, the paste is rather messy and she gets it all over face hair, so I think I prefer this better.

I have read great things about the “under the Weather” products and as Archimedes seemed to be showing some of the signs of slowing down that can manifest in dogs as well as humans (sundowning, sudden irritability etc) WELL between monitoring everything we feed him, making sure when he names he is on his orthopedic bed in the correct position I thought we were o 5he right track. Now add g “under the Weather » has. Suddenly made his healthy foods and supplements at least three tines as tasty because Monsieur Picky-Pants has started loving his food and all these things combined have literally transformed his age and for all the products I an eternally grateful and will tell other - when you can extend the HEALTHY and HAPPY life of your best friends there is no greater feeling. I will be keeping « Under the Weather » in stock for those periods of malaise and hopefully it will snap them out of that too!
