Been using it as a fun humidifier, and has worked well. Every now and then when I plug it in, it does nothing. Unplugging it and plugging it back in a couple times seems to work. No issues otherwise.

As stated this need to have about 1 inch of water over top of it to trigger the sensor and make it turn on. So yes, it turns itself off when water level is low. Creates lots of smoke but spits water in air. Be sure to put in a wide bowl or put a guard around it to keep water from splashing out. Be advised this does make smoke from water so it will over time get things the smoke touches wet.

These work well but if you order more than one you will likely find inconsistencies between them. I ordered two and one is about 10mm taller than the other. The tall one works better but they both work. I would prefer if they were all the same though.Update 5/11Well one is still working but the other one no longer works after only a month. I replaced the ceramic disc and it still does not work so it must be an internal problem. It is really unfortunate these last such a short time.

It worked for about a week while I was testing the water levels in my container. I just went to finally use it for the first time and it just wouldn’t turn on at all, I’ve tried multiple different plugs and outlets and nothing.Am very disappointed because I needed it to work for an event in a couple days.

So I have well water which has lots of impurities so I don't use it in my humidifiers. But theses device has a sensor that is very sensitive. So you may need to add very small amount of baking soda to the water. When I first submerged the first one I bought it would work. The second one worked on and off. I add the baking soda and retired the first and it works perfect now.

It worked as soon as it was covered with water. Great misting action for our halloween project.

Reading the reviews it appears a lot of people didn't do their research, first you have people complaining it splashes, this it what these do, don't believe me take the lid off any humidifier you have while it's running. It's not a water fountain being falsely advertised or incorrectly advertised, it's an ultrasonic transducer or atomizer, it operates at a frequency that frees the water molecules from the water to create the mist you see. Also if splashing is such an issue, if people did their homework you'd know there is these little "gazebo" looking things you can get that you place them in to redirect the splash back downward, you can buy them separately or find one that comes as a kit. The other thing was people calling it an electrical hazard, well if your clumsy and don't know how to keep water away from your electrical components then yeah, sure, it's a hazard, normally common sense can prevail. I also cant help but think people are submerging them in too deep of water, this will cause it to not work, and even says so in the instructions, so if at first you added to much water and its not working, just remove a bit of water and try again. The product is well built, sturdy and when used accordingly is perfect for little DIY projects (plenty of youtube videos with great ideas) and the price is actually really good. The adaptor comes with a mid way connector, so you don't have to unplug it every time you need to fill the water back up or do whatever, you can just disconnect the midway connector and do what you have to do and then just snap it back in again which is really handy.

Though it looks the same, this mister is nothing like the quality of one I had several years ago. The finish turned whitish and pitted and started peeling off after just a couple months, and I only used it with filtered non-chlorinated water. Also this mister spits water everywhere, and the old mister didn't do that.

This makes a great mist if your doing a cauldron or creepy cup for halloween but when it starts running when plugged in the water splashes everywhere! Need to use a very very deep cup or container so that it does not splash all over hopefully!

I bought this to use with a Witch figure for our Halloween Haunted House. When I opened the box, it was just the unit with directions, but according to the directions, I didn't get the tool that was supposed to be provided and additional ceramic discs, so I think I received someone else's return, but had no time to return for something else.I tested the unit out inside my house to make sure it worked and tried a variety of vessels to see what worked the best and decided on a large glass measuring cup to go inside the cauldron worked the best. However, once outside on display, trying to keep the water level at a depth that allowed the unit to produce the mist to flow over the top of the bowl was downright difficult. It was either too low and no fog and lots of splattering or too high and limited fog with less splattering. The water got really hot over time, as well, so additional water added had to be cold to lower the temp. I felt like I had to babysit it the entire time and it still didn't look as good as I would have liked. I wouldn't buy it again.
