5 corazones):❤️❤️❤️❤️

Much heavier than a normal USB C to ethernet adapter. Extra cooling on board to deal with the increased speeds. I use it with my Ubiquiti setup and have had solid results.

Overall a pretty great adapter. Got full 5gbps link speeds with a 10 Gbps USB-C port and Thunderbolt 3 port. I did have some issues with drivers, though; I had to download them for it to fully work. It does seem to get warm when fully utilized, but it does seem like it's built to handle the heat, with vents on the side and a larger enclosure size to dissipate heat. For $34 (with a $6 coupon) at time of reviewing, it's a pretty great adapter for fast speeds, from a pretty reputable brand.

I feel like most consumer grade products are equipped with 1G adapters these days which is fine for most applications, but if you want more data transfer speed this adapter works great. However, I'm not sure most users will even be able to fully utilize the speed on this adapter. My UDM Pro recognized it as 2.5G and I was easily pushing those speeds to about 3G/s which is great without having to configure anything. This adapter was immediately recognized by my Windows11 machine and started working as soon as I plugged in my ethernet cable. It has solid construction and feels well built. Only gets a little warm under load. Great adapter from a great brand that is easy to install and easy to use.

This NIC uses an RTL8157 ethernet chipset, which is pretty standard and works well. Do note that you'll need to download the driver from Realtek's site, as the one Windows installs by default is very old and doesn't work properly. I was stuck with it negotiating at 2.5Gb and only getting tens of megabits throughput until I installed the proper software. After, it was able to link at 5Gb properly and speeds were as expected. That confusing hiccup aside, it was very easy to set up.For some reason, there are no link/activity lights on this unit. I personally find them very useful, especially to tell you if the interface negotiated for 5Gbit/s properly or has fallen back to something lower. I can't imagine two LEDs would have added much to the bill of materials, so that's disappointing.Unfortunately, my computer only has older USB 3.0 5Gbps ports. As expected with USB's overhead, I was getting around 3.5Gbit/s. I have no doubt the device can do 5Gbit/s with faster ports, but I mention it so others aren't surprised. It's still faster than 2.5Gb adapters!Build quality is great, with the body being mostly aluminum. It's a bit larger than one I have from another brand, but the size and added vents means it runs noticeably cooler. Not that the others really get all that hot, but it doesn't hurt. There's a fine mesh inside the vents, which should keep most backpack debris out. The captive cable has a braided nylon outer jacket, but is still quite flexible. So, lack of indicator LEDs aside, it's a pretty good NIC. While physically larger than its competition, it runs cooler. Value is a bit poor, as at the time of writing, it's about ten bucks more expensive than any other RTL8157-equipped adapter, which will perform essentially the same. These 5Gb adapters are new to the market, though, so I expect prices to shift around quite a bit in the near future. Price aside, it's a great unit, if you don't need link/act lights.

I'm a big fan of UGreen products; I've used their chargers for a while now, and they've always been reliable and well-made. So, when I saw this 5G ethernet adapter, I knew I had to get it. I've been wanting one for my M3 Macbook Air for ages!Setting it up was a breeze. I plugged it into my MacBook Air, and macOS recognized it right away, asked for authorization, and boom, I was good to go. At home, I have a 1.2Gbps Comcast connection, and I've been testing it out. When plugged directly into my Comcast modem, I was getting the full line speed, which is the max for my modem. I considered 10G adapters, but honestly, they are incredibly expensive, and even the ones at work don't consistently hit those speeds. We have full 10Gbps mGiG at the office, so it'll be fantastic to utilize the full 5G speeds there as well. And like all UGreen gear, the build quality is top-notch. These high-speed adapters are notorious for getting really hot, but even when pushing 1.1Gbps, this one hasn't gotten too warm. I think the ventilation design, which is a first for me, really helps keep it cool.It looks, feels, and performs like a premium product, but the price is surprisingly reasonable. Especially when you consider it's not much more expensive than slower adapters, and it's from a trusted brand like UGreen.

The UGREEN USB-C 5 GbE adapter feels well built. The electronics are housed in a fairly large and sturdy metal case, which gets a little warm with use, but not hot enough to be concerned. Getting the adapter to reach its potential requires a relatively modern system with a 10 Gbps or better USB port, as well as recent drivers. The device is plug and play on Linux for me, but ethtool shows a 705 mbit link, which doesn't make sense. I was only able to get a half-duplex link on my Gen 1 port, with throughput near 3 Gbps. I think some driver updates could benefit stability and performance. The Realtek 2.5 Gbit USB ethernet adapters have more consistent performance and behavior for me, at this point on Linux. On a Windows 11 laptop with a USB-C port, I could achieve 4.7 Gbps throughput after installing the latest Realtek USB adapter drivers from the Realtek website. Performance was stable during a 10 minute run of iperf3. While the adapter will run with the stock drivers Windows provides (from 2016), the link is limited to 2.5 Gbps.Overall, this is a decent 5 GbE adapter, but I'd like to see improvements for the Linux drivers.
