I have gigabit download internet service, so any equipment going into the house needs to provide those capabilities. This switch works great for expanding the number of ports available in a specific room, like my home office, which is separated by in-wall ethernet from the network cabinet in our house. I've confirmed that I continue to receive gigabit download transfer speeds through this switch. An unmanaged ethernet switch is analogous to a "splitter", but with the right electronics to ensure traffic passes through all endpoints in search of its destination. On the 5 port option the most common configuration is you effectively have 1 port for reaching out to WAN/internet connectivity and then 4 remaining ports to connect devices like desktops, laptops, printers, etc. What absolutely gets me about this switch is it is the size of a credit card - just big enough for the ports on one side and the power plug on a perpendicular side. I almost had a gasp when I opened the box because the size was astonishingly small. Maybe I haven't seen an unmanaged switch besides my 8 year old TP-link unmanaged switch, but the size decrease is incredibly noticeable. Because of this switch's compact size, I'm looking forward to its use in the network cabinet which is tight on space.

I use the black Ethernet switch to link 4 mini PCs to my network. It measures just 3 ¼ inches wide, 2 inches deep, and 1 inch tall. I can mount it on the wall using the holes on the back, but for now, I have it sitting on my desk. There are five ports. I plug the 5V DC power adapter into the left side, and it draws very little energy. On top, six indicator lights glow: a steady green power light on the very left, while the five remaining blink to show network activity. According to the manual, it has 1000 MB/s link speed, which I confirmed by checking my wired network settings.I can connect any port to my router, and the manual clarifies it uses non-blocking forwarding at wire speed with a 10Gbps switching capacity. The included user instructions only show the manufacturer’s address (Ugreen Group Limited, Shenzhen, China) and an FCC compliance statement. The actual manual, however, lists much more detail. From it, I learned this unmanaged CM833 model supports IEEE 802.3/u/x/ab standards and auto-negotiates between 10/100/1000Mbps speeds. On the underside, I see the manufacturer’s address again - made in China, as stated in the user instructions - alongside the 5V/1A max input rating and FCC, CE, and UKCA logos.

I have purchased many UGreen items and have loved how each of them perform and last. This is my first UGreen switch and I was not disappointed in the product. It is a small unit and delivers what is promised in the description. I was a little surprised when I opened the box and found that the case was plastic instead of metal but thinking about it, I decided that it does not need to be metal. I have this unit in an out building that is not climate controlled. This winter has put the product to the test with the low temperatures and it hasn't missed a beat. The throughput is what I would expect from a gigabit switch. I think that it is a quality product and could not find any manufacture defects. I like the product.

This is a perfectly fine switch for a good price. If you're working on a small home network and just need a few more ethernet ports it's probably an excellent choice. I haven't had any issues with speed, latency, or reliability in I think nearly a month of routing all my home servers through it to the router. It's disappeared into my network and I never think about it, which is exactly what you want!

This switch provides a great way to 'add' extra LAN ports to your router. I connected my printer and laptop and they connected to my router just fine. Everything works nicely. The switch is quite small and can be hidden somewhere out of sight since it has a lot of cables going into it. I would recommend this switch as it is an easy way to get more wired connectivity to your router. Great product!

This was a free product. However, I have no incentive to be biased or against this product. If you're looking to connect three or four devices to your internet, the UGREEN 5 port Ethernet Switch is what you're looking for. My internet caps out just below 1000MbPS, and this Ethernet Switch easily hits this cap. Would show you speed test results, but the one I use would give my location away. And it comes with a power cord instead of a USB cable that you have to buy an adapter for? The only reason to pass this up is because you need to connect more than four devices. Would highly recommend!
