Purchased this unit to monitor the print bed temperature on a 3D printed. Worked fine initially but now the first digit of the display only shows a dash (-) and not the number. It should read 53.0 but it looks like -3.0. Disappointed to say the least.

Ordered two. Both measure temperature well within the "promised" 0.3C when compared between themselves and to a high precision lab-grade thermometer (test done with 40C water, this does not guarantee the same precision at substantially different temperatures). The problem is that one of them runs up and down the scale in the decimal (0.1C) value like crazy. This is non-stop and frankly annoying. So one gets 5* and the other 1 or 0 * for an average of 3. Too bad there is not better quality control for this otherwise good product.

Works nicely so far on my 3d printer enclosure. It's a little slow to react to temp changes but gives stable readings. Also note that this particular blue color would be bad for outside lighting. The display is good size and easy to read. I recommend it for indoor use as long as you don't need fast reaction time.

Purchased this to pair with a temp prob to monitor diesel egts. Blue display. It relays information on time (as far as I can tell).CONS: the lack of brightness makes this meter almost unreadable during the day on a dashboard in a vehicle. For some reason the plastic outer screen swelled as it was in a vehicle that was parked unattached for a good few days. It's intact, but bubbled up none the less.

I've always wanted to put a thermocouple on my woodstove to monitor the catalytic combustor performance. Up until I found this unit, I would have had to spend over a hundred dollars for the range and accuracy of this little gem. The display is indeed dim, but it's perfect for my application. I don't want a bright, distracting LED lighting up my living room when I'm watching a movie. But, I do want to know when it's time to add a log to the fire without having to get up and look closely at the catalyst thermometer. It's not exactly right over the range of temperatures. (Either that, or the two bi-metallic thermometers I've been using over respond at 1200°F, but it is close enough and consistent enough for me to know the state of the burn at all times. And for one-tenth of the price? I couldn't be happier.

USE:Using the thermocouples to develop an experiment for engineering students at my university.IN APPLICATION:They aren't too bad, the settling time can be pretty long before two thermocouple displays read close to the same temperature (+/-0.5 C). I tell my students to wait twelve seconds, sometimes still doesn't seem long enough. At home it was up to 20 seconds to settle.PROBLEM:When reading the temperature indoors your hand needs to block the light to read the display. I have it hooked up to a 12 V DC source that plugs into the wall. Tested the voltage beforehand to make sure the supply was good, it was fine. Soldered it up and the display comes out dim, a little disappointing.

I bought one for a test setup I wanted to monitor. It worked when powered by a 12v battery and the display was plenty bright, but it had some high temp bias somehow. Holding the probe in my hand made it read 70 C, I wasn't running a fever! The funny thing was the ambient temp seemed right. I don't trust it.

Got this yesterday so I can monitor the temperature of my sailboat engine. Haven't hooked it up yet, but did some testing with it around the house with a 12v converter and it seems to work well. Very responsive to temperature changes. Bright, easy to read display. Very simple to hook up.Would give it 5 stars if it would output in Fahrenheit. It's pretty cheap, so I understand the desire to keep product cost low. But I'd pay $5 more if it did. It doesn't matter for my need, there is a maximum temperature that the engine should run out, so it's a one-time conversion.
